The Path is back on Hulu for Season 2 on January 25th, and the streaming service has just dropped a new trailer for the drama about a family at the center of a controversial cult. Aaron Paul, Hugh Dancy, and Michelle Monaghan are all back for the second season, which picks up following Eddie’s (Paul) departure from the Meyerism “movement” and his family at the end of Season 1.

“My name is Eddie, and I was in a cult,” Eddie tells a support group in the trailer, which is filled with hints that, though the Lane patriarch has left his family, he is far from giving up on them. From the looks of things, charismatic cult leader Cal (Dancy) is moving in on Eddie’s son Hawk (Kyle Allen) and wife (or perhaps ex-wife?) Sarah (Monaghan). Later in the trailer, we see Eddie tell charismatic cult leader Cal: “I will murder you before I let you take him from me.”

And that probably isn’t the most tense moment in the trailer, which includes Sarah confessing that she’s “haunted,” Hawk admitting that “everything’s just ripped apart,” and Eddie being wheeled into an Emergency Room. Elsewhere in the trailer, Meyerist Mary (Emma Greenwell) blackmails Cal, presumably over their sexual tryst last season, and new character Kodiak (James Remar) ominously tells us: “The night is only beginning.” This show looks as tautly disturbing as ever. We’re in.

The first two episodes of The Path’s Season 2 will drop on January 25th.
