Directors Josh Gordon and Will Speck (The Switch) have signed on to direct The Pool. According to Deadline, “The comedy is about a middle-class college graduate who jumps into the job market at the worst possible time, and the only gig he gets is teaching swim lessons at a prestigious country club full of beautiful women and their older inattentive husbands.” Yes, damn you, crappy economy. Damn you for making people work at prestigious country clubs full of horny attractive women. Damn you straight to hell. Dan Lagana penned the script, which is described as “in the vein of Risky Business and The Flamingo Kid.”
While I’d like to have faith in this project, Gordon and Speck’s work thus far hasn’t really impressed me. Their debut feature, Blades of Glory, works because of the cast rather than any comic sensibilities they bring to the table, and it was harder to find a comedy last year that was blander than The Switch. Speck and Gordon are also attached to helm an untitled Christmas comedy from screenwriters Jon Lucas and Scott Moore (The Hangover).
