20th Century Fox is expanding its partnership with IMAX to include four highly anticipated upcoming releases. The studio announced today that they have signed a new multi-picture agreement with IMAX to release Maze Runner: The Death Cure, The Predator, Alita: Battle Angel, and the studio’s untitled Marvel film in the IMAX format. The release notes that these films will be “digitally re-mastered into the immersive IMAX format,” so unfortunately it sounds like there are no plans for any native IMAX photography at this stage.

Fox and IMAX recently partnered up for the release of Deadpool, which was re-mastered into the format and performed swimmingly. One imagines the big-screen nature of IMAX will suit these four tentpoles well, and there’s much to look forward to about each one.

The Predator has Shane Black attached to co-write and direct what will be a sequel in the franchise, with word recently surfacing that Benicio Del Toro is being eyed to lead the film. Black intends to make The Predator a big event film, and releasing it in IMAX is certainly a step in that direction.

Maze Runner: The Death Cure is the concluding installment of the proper Maze Runner franchise (there exists a prequel book) and was initially slated for release in February 2017, but a serious accident on the set earlier this year put Dylan O’Brien in the hospital and shut down production. Filming is set to resume early next year with the film now slated for release on January 12, 2018.

Alita: Battle Angel is the long-developing adaptation that James Cameron considered directing before choosing Avatar instead. He’s attached to produce and Robert Rodriguez will now direct for a July 20, 2018 release.

And the untitled Marvel movie is just that—an untitled Marvel movie. Fox no doubt knows what the film is, but they ain’t tellin’ just yet. It’s possible it’s a Deadpool sequel, or it could be the X-Men spinoff New Mutants. Regardless, it’s slated for release on March 2, 2018.
