First Full Trailer for THE RAID 2: BERANDAL

     December 31, 2013

The first full trailer for writer-director Gareth Evan’s The Raid 2: Berandal is now online.  The previously released teaser trailer showed action hero Rama (Iko Uwais) incarcerated and a recent press release answered just why that was.  In this new trailer, much more plot information is divulged in a subdued build up to the necessary action montage.  There are a couple of glimpses of fight sequences that beg a longer viewing but we’ll have to wait until Sundance 2014 at the earliest to see how they all play out.

The film also stars Julie Estelle (Macabre), Alex Abbad (Merantau), Marsha Timothy (The Forbidden Door), Mathias MuchusTio Pakusadewo, and Cecep Arif Rahman.  The Raid 2: Berandal opens March 28, 2014.  Hit the jump to watch the trailer and see what Evans had to say about The Raid films here.

Written and directed by Gareth Evans, THE RAID 2 picks up right where the first film left off and follows Rama (Iko Uwais) as he goes undercover and infiltrates the ranks of a ruthless Jakarta crime syndicate in order to protect his family and uncover the corruption in his own police force.

      That looks pretty good.

lol remake, more like “lets rip off this movie because we cant think of anything!”

Fuck yes! I loved the 1st film and this one looks awesome. And it looks like they got a bump in their budget by the look of the film. Can’t wait to see this.

    • AdeoAdversary

Yes, bump in budget is a good thing, Evans deserved it and it looks like he’s not gearing up to disappoint. Right there with you man, can’t wait to see this.

the first movie didn’t do much for me. the action was good, but the whole thing was sort of brutal with lame CGI blood, and had no story or interesting characters. I much preferred Dredd.

    • God’s Diamond

Idk how true it is but there was something I read that said the dredd script was floating around waiting to be made and the people that made the raid copied a lot from it. I really enjoyed dredd and just bought the raid for two bucks on black Friday

Yes, and perhaps have the sand removed from it as well.

I thought the first one was honestly a little bloated in terms of action. Just seemed like too much fighting for what little morsel of a plot it had. I’ll hold out hope for the second one, though. Looks like it might be more involved.

Gotta love this kinda shit. How come every time a sequel to a universally loved film comes out, suddenly you haters are less timid and show yourselves? Is it really still hip to you for you to dislike something just to stray from the ‘norm’? It’s just sad to me, every time. You weasels only come out of the wood works when the sequels are released, too funny

Looks better than 99% of Hollywood garbage.
