Here’s the press release we were sent:

Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Amber Riley, Hugh Laurie, Halle Berry, Ricky Gervais, Daniel Radcliffe, Jon Hamm and Martha Stewart are among the guest voices in the upcoming 22nd season of THE SIMPSONS premiering Sunday, Sept. 26 (8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

In “Elementary School Musical,” the season premiere episode, MARGE (Julie Kavner) sends LISA (Yeardley Smith) to a performing arts camp where artsy counselors (guest voices Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie of “Flight of the Conchords”) and fellow musically inclined campers (guest voices Lea Michele, Cory Monteith and Amber Riley of GLEE) inspire her to embrace her creative side. After she returns to Springfield, Lisa becomes restless with her ho-hum suburban lifestyle and catches the first bus to Sprooklyn in hopes of reconnecting with her inner hipster.

This fall, British imports Hugh Laurie (HOUSE) and Daniel Radcliffe (“Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince”) provide guest voices in the 21st annual “Treehouse of Horror XXI” Halloween spook-tacular. Later in the season, actor Jon Hamm (“Mad Men”) voices an FBI supervisor in “Donnie Fatso”; and Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg, baseball legend Mike Scioscia and sports writer Bill James all lend their voice talents to “MoneyBart.” Lifestyle guru Martha Stewart spreads holiday cheer as herself in “The Fight Before Christmas,” an episode that also features live-action puppets.

Additional guest stars stopping by Springfield this upcoming season include actors Kristen Wiig (“Saturday Night Live”), Paul Rudd (“Dinner For Schmucks”), Rachel Weisz (“The Lovely Bones”) and Alyson Hannigan (“How I Met Your Mother”); NASCAR driver Danica Patrick; comic duo Cheech & Chong; and NBA Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Additionally, Joe Mantegna (“Criminal Minds”) returns as FAT TONY.

Now the longest-running comedy in television history, THE SIMPSONS immediately struck a chord with viewers across the country as it poked fun of itself and everything in its wake. With its subversive humor and delightful wit, the series has made an indelible imprint on American pop culture, and the family members have become television icons. The series features the voice talents of Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Yeardley Smith, Hank Azaria and Harry Shearer.

THE SIMPSONS is a Gracie Films Production in association with 20th Century Fox Television. James L. Brooks, Matt Groening, and Al Jean are the executive producers. Film Roman is the animation house.

This should really be the last season.

      I hope not!

South Park already did Elementary School Musical. Irony?

The last season of The Simpsons should happen when the cast and crew no longer want to make the show or when it stops making money for Fox. As it stands, right now The Simpsons is the only thing keeping viewers from 2 hours of Seth Macfarlane every Sunday night. Sure, you can say that the show has not been as funny as it was in its earlier seasons but seasons 20 and 21 had some rather funny episodes that rank among the best of the shows run (when you have 500+ episodes a best of list can be considerably long).

I totally agree with you on this one! As a loyal Simpsons fan who’s stuck with the show from the start, I was disappointed as of late, but season 20 and 21 had some absolute brilliant episodes, and it’s picking back up :)

Oh geeze, I thought they finished the show right around the time they put the movie out.

I guess looking at the list aside from Cheech and Chong there is no one on there that I would care about hearing their voices on the Simpsons.

It's the anti-Seinfeld by not ending at its peak – the legacy of this show is RUINED.

The reason the show sucks is because every stupid episode has another “guest” voice. My favorite eps were the ones that revolved around some of the ancillary characters but in the later years they seem to have given up on the other characters. They introduce a new character voiced by some celeb who is popular at the moment.

“Goddamn it, how come every time they think of something original South Park already did it?”
Okay maybe not but Elementary School Musical = blantant rip-off. It actually had the same title as an SP episode that came out 2 years ago. Unless they’re trying to be ironic… why? Surely they could at least alter it to make it their own?

“SIMPSONS DID IT!!” Remember that South Park quote? haha :) I’m also wondering about the title. Maybe it is them being ironic. God I can’t wait for South Park and The Simpsons to continue :)

this show should be more than just 20 minutes.

“OOH The cast of Glee, they’re popular at the moment, let’s put them in” say the writers and production staff. God they sicken me, it’s almost as bad as that special where Yeardley Smith was sucking up to Ludacris. The way they have guest stars now is just token and unnecessary. The guest stars used to actually have a point and weren’t inserted just to appeal to the current young generation. They had people like Sam Neil, Joe Nameth, Adam West and Tito Puente on there and they usually had decent lines to work with. They didn’t feel the need to conform and feel relevant when they did have celebrities on the show and I loved it for that. Now it’s just devolved into my former point. Urgh, it sickens me.

Such a shame, those money pigs killed this show. Should have ended after 10 seasons for a great end to the show. now it has maybe 6 or 7 classic seasons with like 200 episodes that will age very bad!

  • Jonperth

Hey, it’s the Simpsons 105th Season! Always going to be some lame ass that will watch it…even if everybody else think’s its a pile of S!
