Netflix has released the full trailer for its upcoming thriller series The Society. Written by Chris Keyser (Tyrant) and directed by Marc Webb [(500) Days of Summer], the story takes place in a world "where a group of teenagers are mysterious transported to a facsimile of their wealthy New England town, but without any trace of their parents or other adults. Left to their own devices, everything is fun and games until their little society starts breaking down and they must learn how to survive."

There is definitely a Lord of the Flies vibe to this, as well as a kind of combining of The 100 and various teen dramas, but it's certainly a strong basis for a story that can explore class warfare and what makes a society fair, justice, or able to work. And of course, the fact that this is all wrapped up in a supernatural package just adds another layer to its drama and mystery.

Check out The Society trailer below. The series hits Netflix on May 10th and stars Rachel Keller, Kathryn Newton, Alex Fitzalan, Kristine Froseth, Jacques Colimon, Sean Berdy, Toby Wallace, Gideon Adlon, Olivia DeJonge, Alex MacNicoll, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Jose Julian, Salena Qureshi, Jack Mulhern, and Grace Victoria Cox.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Society:

The Society follows a group of teenagers who are mysteriously transported to a facsimile of their wealthy New England town, left without any trace of their parents. As they struggle to figure out what has happened to them and how to get home, they must establish order and form alliances if they want to survive. The series is a modern take on Lord of the Flies.
