‘The Strain’ Season 3 Trailer: New Yorkers vs. the Vampire Apocalypse

     June 21, 2016

The vampires are back and they have officially taken over the city in the first legitimate trailer for The Strain season 3. There’ve been a slew of promos, including one of an infected Statue of Liberty, but here is some more specific footage of the events to come.

According to the trailer, “It’s been 23 days since the world as we knew it ceased to exist.” More buzzwords like “terror,” “confusion,” and “paranoia” are uttered as New York City falls into chaos. The government has bigger problems to worry about than the people of the Big Apple as the mysterious plague is quickly spreading all over the world, so citizens are forced to fend for themselves.

Watch the trailer below.

The Strain, from Guillermo Del Toro and executive producer Carlton Cuse, will shell out 10 episodes for the third season. Corey Stoll, a Maestro, David Bradley, Kevin Durand, Richard Sammel, Jack Kesy, Miguel Gomez, and Robin Atkin Downes return just in time for the beginning of the post-apocalypse.

Season 3 premieres Sunday, August 28 at 10 p.m. on FX. But before then, the network will likely bring out some of the cast and crew to San Diego Comic-Con, where they’ll surely reveal new footage and tease more of the impending war between the living and the undead. At the very least, the coming season will likely gross us all out.

Here’s the official plot synopsis:

As season three begins, New York City is a battleground. Written off by the federal government, the people of New York City must fight for survival on their own. The question is who will win? Humans or strigoi? Our heroes win victories, but are not winning the war. Beset by personal conflicts – betrayal, disappointment, paranoia – our group is splintering… Meanwhile, the Master is close to executing an irreversible transformation of the world. Is there still hope to save the city and humanity?
