The Tarantinoverse strikes again!  After screening his latest film, "Inglourious Basterds", in Austin, Texas on Saturday night, Quentin Tarantino revealed that one of the film's main characters is strongly linked to a familiar name from the director's past.  Hit the jump for all the details.

Fans of Quentin Tarantino know that the director likes to embed little details into his films that link his past characters to current ones.  The most notable example of this is probably the supposed fraternal bond between Vincent Vega of "Pulp Fiction" and Vic Vega of "Kill Bill", but there are plenty more insider references where that came from.

Tarantino recently revealed the latest Tarantinoverse connection written into "Inglourious Basterds", and it's one that brings us all the way back to his first big-time screenplay "True Romance".

According to The Playlist, Tarantino revealed during a Q & A panel in Austin that Eli Roth's character in "Basterds", Sergeant Donny Donowitz, is the father of Lee Donowitz from "True Romance".

For those who may not recall, Lee Donowitz - the coke-fueled mastermind behind the faux-Vietnam action film "Coming Home in a Body Bag" - was played to perfection in "True Romance" by actor Saul Rubinek.

I have yet to see "Inglourious Basterds" but I will say that Rubinek and Roth do bear an eerie resemblance to each other.  Now if only Nazi-occupied France had a Big Kahuna Burger the cinematic verisimilitude would be complete!
