Final Trailer for THE THREE STOOGES

     March 21, 2012

Fox has released a new trailer for The Three Stooges.  The trailer tries to bill Larry (Sean Hayes), Moe (Chris Diamantopoulos), and Curly (Will Sasso) as the original “Jackasses”.  It is like a Jackass if Jackass were fake, family friendly, and featured goofy sound effects to accompany the slapstick.  Directors Peter and Bobby Farrelly have clearly paid a loving tribute to the Stooges, but this trailer and the previous one show that the Stooges’ humor isn’t going to translate to modern audiences.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer.  The film also stars Sofia Vergara, Jane Lynch, and Larry DavidThe Three Stooges opens April 13th.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Three Stooges:

Left on a nun’s doorstep, Larry, Curly and Moe grow up finger-poking, nyuk-nyuking and woo-woo-wooing their way to uncharted levels of knuckleheaded misadventure. Out to save their childhood home, only The Three Stooges could become embroiled in an oddball murder plot… while also stumbling into starring in a phenomenally successful TV reality show.

Love the Stooges, but goddamn does that look horrible!

  • mattedscreen

It’s not that the humor of the REAL 3 Stooges doesn’t translate to modern audiences, it’s that the humor of this movie is painfully UNFUNNY! The 3 Stooges were signature performers in their own time, who continue to be funny in THEIR way, not some lame IMPERSONATION of their routines. This is like if someone slapped on a little black mustache, grabbed some ragged clothes, sported a limp, called themselves Charley Chaplin and remade Modern Times. Lets hope this is a failed experiment that isn’t repeated again. EVER!

    And you know this how?
Stop with the hate and trying to sabotage a movie without giving it a chance to find an audience.
Just because YOU don’t have a sense of humor, doesn’t mean other don’t as well.

  • pDUB

i agree with the above comment, maybe you should use words such as “might not translate” or “we’ll see how this translates to modern audiences,” otherwise you seem like a poo-poo-er not giving what could honestly be a funny, or at least enjoyable, movie any sort of chance.

    • Thunder

Dude, accept it, the movie is going to suck very badly. This will not translate well to modern audiences. The Bros. don’t make funny films anymore, it’s a shame but they just don’t.

  • mattedscreen

Stop hating on Goldberg, this movie looks like complete CRAP! No IF, ANDS, or BUTS about it. IT is CRAP. NOT funny, and a LAME impression of 3 of the greatest comedians who ever lived. The humor doesn’t translate because it’s NOT FUNNY!

  • Corr

This movie looks like complete crap. I agree with Goldberg, I don’t think people are going to find it funny.

  • nNark

Ugh. It’s too bad the Farrellys have put so much into this, because the casting looks better than I’d hoped. It’s sad because it could’ve been a really entertaining biopic (unlike that CRAP TV one that Mel Gibson made–AWFUL!). And, parenthetically, I think the Farrellys havent done anything good since There’s Something About Mary. Talk about coasting on your successes!

I’m a die hard Stooge fan and saw an early screening of it last week. With a few exceptions I think they did about as good as anyone could have done with it. I actually enjoyed it and will definitely see it again.

  • Adri

    Very bored. Farelly’s really lost

  • SethR

“humor that isn’t going to translate to modern audiences”- I know that this is a blog and that you aren’t required to remain objective, but this has gotten a bit ridiculous. It is very LIKELY that the humor will not translate…obviously…but come on, Goldberg.

Never before have I seen such unfunny physical comedy.

  • Telltheking

the sound is off on my computer and I thought it looked hilarious. maybe it should be a silent.

  • DB

saw some original three stooges stuff in film history class, never thought they were funny to begin with, i honestly don’t know why the studio thinks a modern update is necessary.

  • bob

really you idiots? i found the trailer funny, i know the movie is stupid that’s why i laugh at this scenes.

  • LAME

    I’m a fan and I loved it!

  • Adel

i love it its look very good to me ..

  • Josh

Im a three stooges fan, and i actually found the trailer to be funny. Idk what people expected the movie to be. Of course it’s shtick and has stupid humor. The whole bit is basically these three guys impersonating the three stooges, while being in a modern era. This movie doesn’t look like it’s the next airplane, but fuck it looks stupid in a funny way. And at the very least Sasso, Diamantopoulos, Hayes, deserve credit for their impersonations because these dudes nailed all 3 of the stooges.

I like all three of these actors but Will Sasso is the only one who makes sense as the character they’re playing.

Man, this take on the Three Stooges is so mean spirited! Sure, the show was violent and ripe with physical humor before, but here, it is so over the top that it literally hurts to watch. I’d rather not watch a man screaming in pain while a lobster most likely pinches his genitalia off, thank you very much.

    I’ll never watch this film.

It’s just a movie people, calm down, saw it Friday, not bad, not the best movie of the year, but not bad.
