Sony has scheduled the star-studded thriller The Tourist for a holiday release --- December 10th, to be precise.  Johnny Depp stars as the titular American tourist who is drawn into the tangled life of an Interpol agent played by Angelina Jolie; Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck (The Lives of Others) directs.  Given the talent attached, the December date could understandably be seen as a play for an Oscar.

Hit the jump for details on the new release dates of It's Kind of a Funny Story and Underworld 4.

According to Box Office Mojo, Focus Features' It's Kind of a Funny Story was originally slated for September 24th, but will instead bow a couple weeks later on October 8th.  Seems like a move of confidence for a film I have high hopes for.  Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover) and Keir Gilchrist star in the comedy/drama hybrid, set in a mental institution.

In a more drastic shift, Underworld 4 has been pushed back from September 23, 2011 to January 20, 2012.  This is the second delay in release, as the vampire sequel was first set to hit 3D theaters on January 21, 2011, nearly one year (to the day) prior to the new release date .
