As a pet-lover, the moment I heard that Ryan Reynolds plays a guy who talks to his cat and dog in Marjane Satrapi's The Voices, I was in.  Then I heard about the darker components of the film and they totally won over the horror-lover in me.  Then, on top of that, Adam called The Voices one of his favorite films from the 2014 Sundance Film Festival and dubbed it “one of the best dark comedies in years.”  We’ve showed you some images from The Voices, but now it’s time to get a taste of what Adam loved so much about the film in its very first trailer.

The story structuring is a bit off and the piece isn’t as effective as I hoped, but it still presents the concept as an outrageous blast, keeping hopes high for the full feature.  Hit the jump to watch The Voices trailer and be sure to keep an eye out for Adam’s high praise for the film in the promo.  The Voices is scheduled to hit theaters and VOD on February 6th, and also stars Gemma Arterton, Anna Kendrick and Jacki Weaver.

Here’s the synopsis for The Voices:

THE VOICES is a genre-bending film which centers around Jerry, a lovable but disturbed factory worker who yearns for the attention of a woman in accounting. When their relationship takes a sudden turn, we follow Jerry’s perspective as his talking pets, a sinister cat and benevolent dog, lead him down a fantastical, murderous path.
