First Trailer for Martin Scorsese’s THE WOLF OF WALL STREET Starring Leonardo DiCaprio

by     Posted 1 year, 46 days ago

Paramount Pictures has released the first trailer for director Martin Scorsese’s upcoming drama The Wolf of Wall Street.  Based on the memoir of Jordan Belfort, the film stars Leonardo DiCaprio as a hard-partying, drug-addicted stockbroker who was indicted in 1998 for security fraud and money laundering and served a 22-month federal prison stretch.  Sounds pretty dramatic and sobering, no?  Well, our first introduction to Scorsese’s picture highlights the fun and leaves out the feds (for the most part).  It’s refreshing to see DiCaprio having a good time and everyone seems to be in on the party in this picture.  Early indications paint The Wolf of Wall Street more in the vein of Pain and Gain than Oliver Stone’s 1987 film Wall Street, which comes as an unexpected but welcome surprise.

Hit the jump to watch the trailer.  The film also stars Jonah HillKyle ChandlerMatthew McConaugheyJean DujardinMargot RobbieJon Bernthal, and Rob ReinerThe Wolf of Wall Street opens on November 15th.

  • juepucta

    Casinoesque

  • Ricky Donaldson

    That was pure eye cocaine.

This looks bloody incredible. Interesting tone. I thought it would be more of a drama but looks like it will have several themes and tones to it. Excited.

I don´t tend to curse, but this looks Fucking Awesome. Really differente from what Scorsese has done in the past. The cast looks killer, so as Leo and the trailer. Hope The Academy doesn´t ignore him this time. By the way, for some reason this reminded me a lot to James McAvoy´s Filth, which looks awesome too.

    • Nathaniel Haywood

I was trying to place what this film reminded me of, and you hit the nail on the head! Totally feels like a McAvoy film.

      • Julio Navas

Haha, i mean he stars in that one.

    • Hop

      Filth looks filthy. Nothing more.

Im getting that goodfellas vibe especially when Di caprio seemed like he was breaking the fourth wall

If it wasn’t Scorsese, people wouldn’t be saying it looks so amazing. Just does not seem good.

    • HeyRussell

Read the book this is based on. This is exactly the type of asshole-on-parade film I was expecting and Scorsese does excess like few others.

I disagree. This same trailer would look awesome no matter who the director was. Just like the After Earth trailer would have looked like crap no matter who was the director on that one.

Its good to see what Shane was up to before the zombie apocalypse.

Right now someone’s making a gif of Leo pop-locking.

Totally not what I was expecting, but I love it. Hopefully this will be a major awards season contender.

I would be pissed too if i only got 49 million! Wanna scream WOW to the sound of that song!

  • Yup

With ‘Mud’ and ‘Magic Mike’ good will still flowing,
Losing all the weight and dramatic turn in ‘Dallas Buyers…’,
This seemingly very engaging Supporting Role in ‘…Wolf of Wall Street’,
and slated to lead C. Nolan’s, ‘Interstellar’,

    I’d say…

Oscar Gold is landing in Mr. Matthew McCaunoghey’s pocket someway somehow this Awards Season.

    • Hop

You forgot Bernie and Killer Joe. But yeah, Matthew is pretty hot (I mean that in the “successful” sense of the word) right now.

      • junierizzle

        Yes! Bernie is awesome!

  • Nathaniel Haywood

Looks pretty good! I’m a big DiCaprio fan, and Scorsese is the man so I have high hopes for this one. I’m sure there’s drama, but I’m glad that this trailer shows the lighter side. Gonna be good!

  • Brown9026

I’ve read the script and DiCaprio will break the 4th wall. It’s an incredibly fast paced movie.

  • sense11

Someone needs to give that boy an Oscar

  • joeybot

The beginning should be fun…looks like this is following Scorsese’s gangster template. Fun for the first half, then shit gets real.

  • Hop

Wow! This looks bloody insane. This is one of the best edited trailers I’ve ever seen. It’s like…Great Gatsby meets The Bling Ring!

Really surprised. I thought it would be more serious. This looks funny, insane, excessive, over the top, and plain crazy. Also on display: a great cast and crew (great to have you back, Marty), visual splendour, a great score, and some tense moments!

  • http://viendammage.blogspot.com/ VienDammage

Looks great, McConaughey is going to steal some scenes.

  • THE REEL BRUCE LEEROY

This feels more like a dark dramedy but still looks good! I will see this one!

  • Yurine

There was a lot of “WTF” moments in this like Leonardo DiCaprio animating to jonah hill’s face through out the trailer.

  • Pk

What’s the name of the song in the trailer?

    • Strong Enough

      Kanye West: Black Skinheads

      • Pk

Which album of kanye west? Never heard of it before…

      • Teezy

Black Skinhead is the title of the song in the trailer

It’s off his new album Yeezus, out tomorrow

  • Hari

C- from Collider’s Goldberg… You heard it here first

    • brNdon

Preceded by a 2,500 word “review” (summary of the movie)

    • Jimmy B

It must be a good movie then!

  • Bob

Well, like I predicted Leo will get another nomination. I also predict Hill, or McConaughey will get a nomination. McConaughey is getting it for this or Mud no doubt in my mind.

  • Teezy

Trailer looks all sorts of maddening, nice work Scorsese. Can’t wait, plus that cast. Also brilliant song choice, love Kanye!

  • moody

looks like crap, and why people still believe jonah hill is a good actor is beyound me.
