20th Century Fox has released a new image from director James Mangold’s (3:10 to Yuma) upcoming sequel The Wolverine. It’s not as intense or suave as the past couple of images that have been released, but we do get a peek at Hugh Jackman’s titular character looking slightly annoyed while out on the streets of Japan at night. We’ll finally be seeing some footage from the pic next month as the first trailer is due to be released in March, possibly in theaters attached to G.I. Joe: Retaliation.
For now, hit the jump to take a gander at “Squinty Wolverine.” The film also stars Will Yun Lee, Hiroyuki Sanada, Brian Tee, Rila Fukushima, Tao Okamoto and Svetlana Khodchenkova. The Wolverine opens in 3D on July 26th. [Update: Mangold shared an image from the editing room last night, and that's now included after the jump as well.]

Here’s the official synopsis for The Wolverine:
Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine, the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world he faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before.
