Just last week, some concept art and the first set photos from director James Mangold’s The Wolverine landed online, and now with production underway some video from one of the film’s more ambitious sets has surfaced. As I know some of you would like to remain spoiler-free for as long as possible, I won’t go into detail here on the front page. Suffice it to say, the story takes place in Japan (where location shooting will also take place) and stars Hugh Jackman, Will Yun Lee, Hiroyuki Sanada, Hal Yamanouchi, Tao Okamoto, and Rila Fukushima, with Svetlana Khodchenkova recently entering negotiations to play Viper.
Hit the jump to watch the set video, but beware of possible spoilers. The Wolverine opens on July 26th, 2013.
In last week’s batch of set photos, we saw a miniature model of what looked to be some sort of concentration camp. This set video reveals that it’s actually a Japanese POW camp, which seems to imply that at least some of the events of The Wolverine will take place during World War II, putting those atom bomb concept images into a much clearer context. The video comes courtesy of a local newscast in Australia where stage work is being done, so there’s plenty of talk about how good-looking Jackman is (spoiler alert: really, really, really good-looking) interspersed with the footage of note.

Here’s hoping they get the character & his background goddamned RIGHT this time!
(& I actually enjoyed Wolverine, while watching it. Afterward, however, I looked back & could not really find anything ‘memorable’ about it.)

No mention of any Dingos stealing people’s babies? Weird news day in Australia i guess.

Here’s hoping they put him in his costume this time…tired of wolverine with no costume.
AGREE 100%
I wanna see the Wolverine I always known. yellow suit with cool mask. I’m bored of seeing just a guy with a Mutt Williams style hair cut looking tough. If they can make a guy dressed as a Bat seem real, then why not this? I mean the x men are some of the most far fetched characters around, they make spider man and Hulk, iron-man seem like normal people in comparison, and they don’t give Wolverine his iconic suit?
I think Wolverine needs a full reboot with costume. I don’t mind Hugh, but if they reboot him, I think Jeffrey Dean Morgan, of Watchmen would be perfect.
I can see them going with the rust/brown suit over the yellow, especially since it’s the suit from the comic book series this is partially based on. The yellow/blue looks cool in comics, but I have a hard time believing it would look good live action.
sci fi movie? LMAO
