We don’t often feature Sweded trailers here on Collider, but when we do you can bet that they’re worth a watch.  Today’s installment features The Wolverine and came to our attention via director James Mangold himself, who proclaimed the Sweded version “FANTASTIC” over Twitter.  I’m inclined to agree.  Both versions are matched up shot for shot with the Sweded version having to get creative with their special effects on a shoestring budget.  You can check out the original trailer for The Wolverine here and hit the jump to see the Sweded version and a side-by-side comparison.

Starring Hugh Jackman, Will Yun Lee, Hiroyuki Sanada, Brian Tee, Rila Fukushima, Tao Okamoto and Svetlana Khodchenkova,  The Wolverine opens on July 26th.

Here’s the Sweded version of The Wolverine:

I don’t know about you, but I particularly liked their vocal work on the score, the nifty bit of special effects for the wound healing and even their choice of stand-ins for Jackman, who’s a tough act to follow.  Here’s a side-by-side comparison if you want to watch it again:

Here’s the official synopsis for The Wolverine:

Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine, the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world he faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before.
