20th Century Fox has announced the home entertainment release for The Wolverine.  The biggest release will be the “Unleashed Extended Edition”, which is the 4-disc set that contains the 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital Copy along with the most features.  The big highlights in terms of the extras are a making-of feature, an alternate ending, and a tour of the X-Men: Days of Future Past set. The 2-disc Blu-ray has all the same features as the 4-disc set minus the unrated cut and director James Mangold’s audio commentary.

Hit the jump for a list of features.  The Wolverine will be available on Digital HD on November 19th, and on 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and DVD on December 3rd.

Will the extended version be in 3D as well? They screwed this up on the World War Z disc already. It’s ridiculous to make me choose between seeing it in it’s proper format OR seeing this new cut that they’re hyping up as being so exciting. If they’re adding a few minutes of footage, post-converting them to match the rest of the film should be an easy decision. They money they would make off this Special Edition should certainly cover it.

By the way, is this extended version a Director’s Cut? It’s not referred to that way, but it’s the only one Mangold is doing commentary for…..

    So many unanswered questions.

Great, I get to pay extra for a useless 3D disc in order to get all the features. Thanks a lot, Fox. Thank God they used the good poster for the packaging, though. Sorry, DVD-only crowd.

Except for the ending battle, this film was really cool

Love the Slipcover Art for the regular Blu-Ray. Wish it had the extended edition with it. too bad.
