Hammer Films has released two new images from their upcoming ghost thriller The Woman in Black. Daniel Radcliffe stars as a young lawyer on assignment in a remote village: “As he works alone in the client’s isolated house, Kipps begins to uncover tragic secrets, his unease growing when he glimpses a mysterious woman dressed only in black.”

Ciaran Hinds, Liz White, Janet McTeer, and Alisa Khazanova also star.  Check out the photos as well as the synopsis of the film after the jump:

Jane Goldman (Kick-Ass) penned the adaptation from the Susan Hill novel of the same name.  In case you suppressed the memory, Goldman is the one responsible for the little girl we saw causing Tarantino-esque bloodshed whilst using the C-word in Kick Ass.

This is the first film to be released in 3D by Hammer Films, and also the first time I’ve seen Radcliffe looking so damn old. As I, along with tons of other Generation Xers, have grown up with the Harry Potter books and films, his beard in these pictures makes me want to relive the golden days and play Super Smash Brothers (the N64 version, of course).

The story follows a young lawyer, Arthur Kipps (Radcliffe), who is ordered to travel to a remote village and sort out a recently deceased client’s papers. As he works alone in the client’s isolated house, Kipps begins to uncover tragic secrets, his unease growing when he glimpses a mysterious woman dressed only in black. Receiving only silence from the locals, Kipps is forced to uncover the true identity of the Woman in Black on his own, leading to a desperate race against time when he discovers her true intent.

Hmmm…could be interesting. The pictures dont really show anything but do give off a creepy vibe. I’ll probably watch it to see if Radcliffe will be able to break out of the Harry Potter character in my head.

Brawl and Melee are both better than the original N64 game.

I’ve seen the stage play which is amazing, this sounds like they’ve changed how they’re going to present the story, as in the play the main character is an old man who is telling his story of when he was younger and he had to visit the creepy house etc. The actor/director who he is telling the story to plays the part of the younger him.. Does this make sense? lol
Anyways it’ll be interesting to see what they do.

wow he looks amazing… and that’s coming from someone who thought he would never look matured enough…

I think that Max Lichtig is a very engaging writer and particularily like his juxtapostion of
contrasting Radcliffe’s earlier thespian endevours with this film. Brilliant! AND his article made me want to see the film. Brilliant.
