A new UK quad poster has been released for Edgar Wright's upcoming film, The World's End.  The story centers on five childhood friends (played by Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Eddie Marsan, Paddy Considine, and Martin Freeman) going through an epic pub crawl in order to reach the fabled pub, “The World’s End”.  But as they make their way to the pub, they discover that the fate of humankind is on the line.  The poster gives us the first look at the movie's apocalyptic menace, and the glowing blue-eyes have me intrigued.  Are they aliens?  Robots?  Alien robots?  Because if it's alien robots, that's an unbeatable double-threat.  Everyone on Earth is going to die horribly.

Hit the jump to check out the poster.  The World’s End also stars Rosamund Pike and opens in the U.K. on July 19th and in the U.S. on August 23rd.

Here’s the official synopsis for The World’s End:

20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hellbent on trying the drinking marathon again.  They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their hometown and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub – The World’s End.  As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s.  Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.
