After some shaky times for Channing Tatum’s Gambit it seemed that things were moving along well, until now that it has been revealed that director Rupert Wyatt has departed from the project. Early reports pointed at script problems causing the budget to inflate and leading to Wyatt’s exit, but in an official statement from Wyatt he informs that “regrettably a push in the start date now conflicts with another project”.

With Fox’s superhero properties continuing to expand, we expect it is only a matter of time before we get to see these characters cross paths on screen, and writer/producer Simon Kinberg fueled those expectations by saying that an X-Men, Deadpool, and Gambit crossover is in their plans. During an interview at TIFF, Kinberg had this to say about the possible crossover:

“So the Gambit movie, the Deadpool movie, will exist in a world that acknowledges whatever happened in Days of Future Past and moving forward. Doesn’t mean they’ll always interact with those characters, obviously, it’s not like every movie has all the characters, but they all have to exist within the same rules…There will be interplay between different characters in different movies.”

There was some light shed on Booster Gold recently when Nathan Fillion said during an interview that he would like to play the character, and it looks like he could get that chance with reports going around that Warner Bros is in development of a Booster Gold/Blue Beetle movie. The film is described as a superhero buddy cop comedy, a departure from the dark tone set in the DC cinematic universe. The Booster Gold/Blue Beetle is set to be directed by Greg Berlanti.

Sebastian Stan Fires Back at Zack Snyder

Remember when Zack Snyder took a shot at Marvel’s Ant-Man calling it the “flavor of the week”? Well that didn’t sit too well with the Winter Soldier himself Sebastian Stan, who had an answer to Snyder’s comments. During an interview, Stan shared his thoughts on the comments made by the Batman v Superman director, “I was like, ‘Oh thanks, Zack. That’s great. Way to do something original.’” Stan also stated why Captain America: Civil War will be no “flavor of the week”:

I would say we’re still making something very original in our own way. I mean, the Russos are coming in and taking something people are used to and they’re shaping it up and changing it in a very different way. They’re not trying to mimic a better Christopher Nolan movie or something like that.
