We’ve got a few casting stories for you this evening. First up, Thomas McDonell (Disney’s upcoming Prom) is the latest actor to sign on for Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows. The adaptation of the 1960’s gothic soap opera stars Johnny Depp, Eva Green, Michelle Pfieffer, Jackie Earle Haley and Bella Heathcoate. Heat Vision reports that McDonell will play the younger version of Depp’s character, Barnabas Collins, a “self-loathing vampire living in a Maine manor who is searching for his lost love.”
Additionally, Samantha Morton (In America) and Sarah Gadon (Charlie Bartlett) have joined the cast of David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis. THR reports that Morton will play the estranged wife of the lead character in the thriller, played by Robert Pattinson. Hit the jump for info on Malcolm McDowell and Dean Cain starring in the indie sci-fi thriller Mind’s Eye.
Malcolm McDowell and Dean Cain are set to star in Black Wing Digital’s Mind’s Eye. From a script by Mark Daniels, the sci-fi flick “explores the collapse of space and time through the eyes of a high school violinist.” Variety reports that McDowell will portray an unreliable orchestra conductor and Cain will play a science teacher who begins to piece together the mysteries of a series of strange, inexplicable events. The indie will be shot in 2D, with one “central scene” shot in 3D.

The best I can say about Tim Burton is that in his race against Shyamalan to see who can destroy his brand the quickest, he’s narrowly losing.
I, put together three THOR’S at 3 different theatre’s – 2 weeks ago, what a painstaking task!
I made a bit of Dark Shadows art a while ago, for a week straight,
They should get Eddie Izzard to play Ben, he would be perfect!
I actually really like Dark Shadows. I used to draw comic books and thought about pitching it to a comic company that licenses older television and toy properties, but I imagine now it would be a little difficult to obtain the rights… Plus I don’t really enjoy the terrible grind of drawing comics
