With the post-Avengers bump, Thor: The Dark World grossed $633 million worldwide, a 40% increase on Thor's $449 million total.  That is sufficient reason for Marvel to follow up on the cliffhanger at the end of The Dark World in a sequel.  Variety reports the studio has hired Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost to co-write Thor 3.  No plot details are known at this time, but Chris Hemsworth is expected to return.  Kyle and Yost's first writing credits are for the animated series X-Men: Evolution.  Yost worked on the Thor 2 script while Kyle worked his way up to senior VP of production and development at Marvel Studios.

This comes on the heels of the announcement that the Russo brothers are in early negotiations to return for Captain America 3.  Hit the jump for a look at all the Marvel movies on the calendar.

Marvel has also locked up two dates in 2016 and one in 2017.  Those could go to Thor 3, Captain America 3, Iron Man 4, a new Hulk movie, or something knew like Doctor Strange or Black Panther.  Rest assured, Marvel has planned its slate through 2021, so they will eventually get to all the projects you desire.
