Collider reader “Dan” has sent us some concept art of Chris Hemsworth as Thor. Earlier today, we ran a story about AICN landing concept art of Chris Evans in his Captain America outfit. While we were very circumspect about saying these images were official, it is telling that both of these images have leaked today and they have the same artistic style. You can also see how they compare to the official shot Marvel released in April.
What’s especially cool about these Thor images is it’s the first shot we’ve seen of the Norse god wielding his hammer, Mjolner. It’s cool that not only does the top of the hammer glow, but you’ll notice that the grip also emanates blue light. It’s also interesting to see the size of Mjolner in proportion to Thor’s body. Of course, it’s not the size of the hammer, but how you use it. How it’s used in Thor is probably leveling buildings and fighting Norse gods.

For those who don’t know, Thor is being directed by Kenneth Branagh (Hamlet). The film also stars Natalie Portman as love-interest Jane Foster, Anthony Hopkins as Thor’s papa, Odin, and Tom Hiddleston as Loki, the film’s villain. The film also stars Ray Stevenson (Punisher: War Zone), Tadanobu Asano (Mongol), and Joshua Dallas (The Descent: Part 2) as the Warriors Three; Idris Elba (The Wire) as Heimdall, Stellan Skarsgard (Angels & Demons) as Selvig, and Jaimie Alexander (Kyle XY) as Sif.

Ok so the guy that played punisher is going to be in the thor movie….i hope he plays punisher….but more than likely thay isn't the plan. And the Karate kid is going to learn kung fu….totally different martial arts and different countires….whats going on???

I think you, and a lot of other people, misinterpreted these pics. They're CONCEPT ART not still photos. It's all done on computers, even his face. They start this during casting to see what the character will look like. For example you've seen some fake ones recently with the black kid being spider-man campaign. If you look at the released still it's metal and leather, not plastic-rubber and the boots should look heavy-duty as it's for battle. And Thor is always wearing armor!

Not the best thing togo with but I suppose the speciall effects and the light management of the scenes will compentstate and we will have a decent put together picture.
I'd like to know how they're going to explain to Tony Stark how they found a live frozen guy after 60 years and a make believe norse God and then how they want them all to be friends and Kick a very large green mans but together , interesting!

I hope he has the helmet.. Could add to the overall look of the character.. Perhaps he'd wear it only in battle mode. I like the cape. I like the overall look. Much cannot be ascertained by just looking at this conceptual artist's impression
No one has said for sure that the Hulk will be the nemesis for Avengers. At the least, we can hope that the F/X for Hulk are better than that of the last Hulk film (save for a few scenes that were well done).

Nah, even tho I would like characters to remain faithful in appearance/race, every other movie has Caucasians playing other races, so why keep it one way? This also Marvels version of mythology, where Loki has over the millenia grown jealous of Thor and spiteful of Odin. Although Surtur is an awesome villian, got to save him for Ragnarok….

2nd pic has an obviously photo-shopped cape and I doubt that Chris Hemsworth was actually wearing the costume for this photo.. his head looks grafted onto the body, and he does look like Will Ferrell. LOL! My guess is that the second costume picture had no cape and so it was completely added in, (or faked) as was Chris Hemsworth's face.
the first picture appears to be a genuine cape however, perhaps the body double was only standing in front of a red “cape” and they just grafted it onto his shoulders because that doesnt look real either.
where is Thor's helmet??? doesnt he wear a stainless steel pot helmet with little wings???? perhaps they deemed that too stupid and removed it too? still like all the Marvel and DC characters, they all have something that makes them goofy or unbelievable.. cough… Clark Kent's glasses?…cough…

Not to be a total buzz kill but, you haven't seen either in a modern live action movie yet. So, opinion or not, how can you formulate said opinion of them being better left in print before you've seen them? Based on conceptual art? That aside, you think the idea of the Hulk as a villain is stupid? Ok. You're entitled to your opinion on that. However, you think they should stick to the storyline of the Ultimate Avengers? Uhm, perhaps you should reread your Ultimates. The Hulk was the villain in the original Ultimates comic. Bruce caught Betty having an affair w/ Freddy Prinze Jr and he went on a jealous rampage, hence the Avengers needing to take him down. So, if you think the concept of the Hulk as the villain is stupid…. fine. But you're kinda contradicting yourself if you don't think they should do it yet want them to stick to the storyline LOL

I don't like the costume-They need to stick with the comic book look ,-especially the winged helmet. When they stray too much from the comic book costume design, they take a big piece away from the character.
thor sucks, DC's Captain Marvel could pull that hammer away from him and then whoop his ass with it. the only thing that will make the thor movie tolerable is that kenneth branagh will be directing it.
Hemsworth is too little. Tiny little arms and legs. Suit's cool but can't hide his lack of muscle. Another boy trying to play a real man's role.
