Director Alan Taylor Talks THOR: THE DARK WORLD, the Film’s Humor, Deleted Scenes, the End Credits Scenes, and More

     November 5, 2013

With director Alan Taylor’s Thor: The Dark World now playing around the world and opening in North America this weekend, I recently got to interview the cast and filmmakers in London.  As most of you know, Chris Hemsworth returns as Thor, who reluctantly teams up with Loki (Tom Hiddleston) to fight off the villainous dark elf Malekith the Accursed (Christopher Eccleston).  The film also stars Natalie PortmanStellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano, Jaimie Alexander, Rene Russo, and Anthony Hopkins.

During my interview with Taylor he talked about the film’s humor, how the sequel features some cool stuff for comic book fans, when they came up with the end credits scenes, deleted scenes, and more.  Hit the jump to watch.

If you missed my video interview with Natalie Portman, Chris Hemsworth, or Kevin Feige, click the links to watch them.

Alan Taylor:

  • How Thor: The Dark World is really funny.
  • How the movie features some cool stuff for comic book fans.
  • When were the after the credits scenes figured out and how involved was he in both scenes?
  • Deleted scenes talk.  Says he cut out stuff with Odin, Jane on Asgard, Christopher Ecclestonas as Malekith

Love these Steve. Was doing some work of mine and stop to view. Keep up the great work and how much Humble pie do you eat everyday lol?

Also loved your video blog reap of you and peter from 47 ronin. I love those too. I know you’ve seen a ton of more films than me, but as far as extended cuts/director cuts one of my favorites is the TROY director’s cut. Amazing! I’ve liked all the extra features Marvel releases but in my opinion Iron Man 1 was the best. It was Hours of footage. Today I appreciate them but they mostly consist of trailers I don’t care for (except maybe one), 2 featurettes, 10 deleted scenes, a gag reel, commentary (which I love too btw), and that’s it. We just started getting Marvel one shots, and possibly a look at the next feature, but what matters to me the most is an actual extended edition and/or all the behind the scenes stuff from the multiple areas of production. Sometimes them just sitting around in a room talking can be so interesting (Like Iron Man 1). Anyway, I don’t want this to get too long but in the future if you could mention that fans really want this (don’t know if they really do other than me) it just more of a reason to give the people more reasons to buy it. They can get that extra piece of dialogue, that extra scene, that extra wink. That’s just me though. Again, keep up the great work.
