With director Alan Taylor’s Thor: The Dark World opening around the world next week and in North America on November 8th, I was able to interview the cast and filmmakers in London.  As most of you know, Chris Hemsworth returns as Thor, who reluctantly teams up with Loki (Tom Hiddleston) to fight off the villainous dark elf Malekith the Accursed (Christopher Eccleston).  The film also stars Natalie Portman, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano, Jaimie Alexander, Rene Russo, and Anthony Hopkins.

During my interview with Kevin Feige (Marvel’s President of Production), he talked about how funny the sequel is, deleted scenes and how many will be on the Blu-ray, his reaction to the latest draft of The Avengers: Age of Ultron, if they’ve started filming the next Marvel one-shot, when his contract ends, when we can expect an Ant-Man casting announcement, if we’re any closer to finding out which Marvel movies are coming in 2016 and 2017, and a lot more.  Hit the jump to watch.

If you missed my video interview with Natalie Portman or Chris Hemsworth, click the links to watch them.

Finally, if you missed any of my Thor: The Dark World set visit coverage, here’s 50 things to know about the movie and interviews with TaylorHiddlestonAdewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, and producer Craig Kyle.  You can also watch two brand new clips here, or click here for all our previous coverage.

Steve, what determines how much time you have with certain people during these press junkets? Sometimes you’re going for 6-8 minutes before you’re told to wrap, while other times, you’re only in there for 2-3 minutes when you’re given the signal. Why does it vary, and what is it that differentiates the times?

I love the 25-30 minute interviews myself. I stop everything to listen to those. I’ve learned so much from this site and the interviews….

I remember a few years steve did an interview with Chris Evans. I wanna say 2010 or 11 can’t remember and you guys talked for a while. I could tell he genuinely wanted to be there too. So I’m curious as well on the difference….

thanks. Yeah, the Chris Evans interview was one of my fav interviews I’ve ever done. Was done at TIFF in 2011 or 2012

      • Alex Hajna

Agreed, the long interviews are fantastic. Steve knows how to have an engaging conversation with these guys, rather than a conventional interview. And he knows how to ask good questions and get people to talk about interesting stuff.

this was scheduled for 4 minutes but Feige gave me the extra time. So a HUGE thank you to Kevin Feige. When you do a TV junket interview, they’re 4 minutes. Sometimes 5. When you land a 1:1 it can range from 5 to 20 minutes. Generally 1:1s are 10-15 minutes. Also, the bigger the movie, the more outlets want time with the stars/filmmakers, so landing 1:1s can be very tough.

We appreciate you getting these. Thank you.

YES! Thank you Steve and Kevin Fiege. I can tell he likes talking to you.

I dont know who you would have to ask this, but I would really like to know if Sony owns the movie rights to Spiderman and fox owns the movie rights to xmen, do they also own the tv rights? If not, could the xmen appear in agents of shield or any other marvel tv show.
