Toy Fair 2013: First Images of the THOR: THE DARK WORLD Toys Reveal Thor, Loki and the Dark Elves

     February 9, 2013

Earlier today, Hasbro previewed a number of toys they’ll be premiering at Toy Fair 2013 tomorrow.  While most of the presentation showcased toys that will be released in the next few months like Iron Man 3 and Star Wars, they did tease something that will be on store shelves later this year: Thor: The Dark World.  Even though the movie doesn’t get released until November, Hasbro revealed upcoming versions of Thor, Loki and the Dark Elves.  As you can see after the jump, on display were the new 3.75″ inch figures, a new “Titan Hero Series” line, and a Thunder Strike Thor.  Check out the images and then let me know what you think.

Here’s the synopsis for Thor: The Dark World:

Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s Thor and Marvel’s The Avengers, Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

So, what I’m getting from these images (the two different box arts and the several different figures) is that Thor might actually wear his helmet in the film for longer than 3-seconds?

  • tom

so is he actually gonna wear his fucking helmet? i would never take that thing off. i’d slay so much pussy in that thing. right now i only slay like… an above average amount of pussy…

  • jackjack

Shhh… Americans are probably the only nation that bases it’s movies on toys and designing them for selling toys…

    • Mandy

I really doubt this movie was designed around toy sales. The only real movies I know designed around petty sales for action figures would be the transformer movies. Or at least transformers four is going to be, but that franchise is whatever at this point. This movie is designed around bringing a certain “darkness” to the Marvel franchise, a concept that has been ignored up until now. But with DC’s success with the dark atmosphered batman films it only makes sense that Marvel would finally try to tap that energy.
“How much dark energy did the All-father have to muster to conjure you here?”
Unfortunately these toys don’t reflect that aspect because *cough* THEY’RE TOYS! Not only are they just toys, they are probably the most basic ones selected in order to give a colorless preview. It makes people think about it more which, considering the arguments over a helmet, it’s doing its job. So don’t just assume this movies complete design is just for toys sales, I mean it’s not a Lego movie! Which I’m sure even that film isn’t being designed to sell toys, because toys sell themselves!

Well, it finally seems that Thor is going to wear his helmet for the most of the film. Thor without his helmet is like Hawkeye without his mask. Wait a minute, that’s exactly the fucking shit Joss Whedon gave us in The Avengers! I sure hope Joss changes his mind about costumes for the Avengers 2 because regardless of what a good storyteller/director he is, he has shit taste for costume designs. Look at what happened to Cap! He looked exactly what we feared for, and to later find out all the great Cap costume concept designs that Joss tossed out the window, Jesus, he should have his Cap shaped dick torn-off!

    TDKR toys were better.

The batman figures made Batman look like he had Downs.

  • ZeeDoktor

The box art on the second last picture looks like it’s Nic Cage dressed up as Thor.

The helmet is wonky and dumb. He’s a god he doesn’t need to protect his face or his head. you all are dumb. The guy that made the comment on the Hawkeye not having a mask. I would have murdered people in the theater if he came out looking like he does in the comics. It would have dumb and Comical. The other argument is why not to the cloth cover like in the Ultimate…There is a reason in the comics that he did and later went to no mask later on. There isn’t a reason that he should hide his identity in the movie universe so a mask isn’t needed. I also didn’t mind the absent of purple. Cap’s costume was a bit childish yes but he’s captain america. I like how everyone wants the characters to look the same as in teh comics. Do you know how dumb he would look with a rubber or spandex cowl and suit with flare revolution gloves and boots? Dumb. You are just dumb.

    • Ur mom

I totally agree with you. Even Jeremy Renner said in an interview that he wouldn’t wear the purple tights with the mask. I have no problems with Hawkeye without a mask and purple tights, and Thor without his helmet. My only problem was Cap’s uniform.

    • PresidentObama

People like Nerdgasm and Ur mom here that are the kind of morons who do not even notice how contradictive their stupid comments are, which obviously reflect their low IQ levels. If Hawkeye SHOULD NOT look exactly (or anything near) like in the comics, why on earth is it OK that Cap is acceptable with a costume which more or less looks exactly like in the comics? Try explaining how Cap with no mask/helmet would even come close to looking like Cap. Those two comic costumes are on the same level, or to be more accurate, Caps costume is way more sillier than that of Hawkeyes, hands down! And these morons have not seen any of the Superman films, obviously. Think before you write, boys! Oh I’m sorry, should not have said that to elementary school kids!

      • Ur mom

Calm your tits, Mr. Prez and focus on bigger issues than Comic book movies. I guess it just shows how negligent you are with your country.

      • Nerdgasm

I needed that laugh thank you Prezboy. Caps costume looks nothing like the comic book rendition. Both in the first movie with the clunky over sized parachute vest costume and to the tight flack jacket costume he had in the Avengers. Cap is known for spangly tights and revolutionary hemmed winged boots and gloves. so Im not sure what comics you read. I also feel that Superman looks ridiculous and always has so your argument there is moot to me.
