Kenneth Branagh’s adaptation of Marvel’s “Thor” just picked up a couple more actors to swing with Thor and his mighty hammer (that’s not slang; the hammer’s name is Mjolner; it’s a mythological weapon).  Tonight we’ve learned that Colm Feore (“24″, “The Chronicles of Riddick”) and Jaimie Alexander (“Kyle XY”) are joining Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, and Tom Hiddleston in the story of the “powerful but arrogant warrior of Asgard whose reckless actions re-ignite an ancient war. As punishment, Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans. Once here, he learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends dark forces of Asgard to invade Earth.”  Hit the jump to see how the fresh blood enters the fray.

According to THR, Alexander would play Sif, a skilled Asgardian who can hold her own against any man.  She is also one of Thor’s loves so I’m assuming when she loses to Jane Foster, Thor’s human love interest played by Natalie Portman, she’ll take it like a demi-god man and just smash Foster’s head with a city bus.

As for Feore’s character, it’s “shrouded in mystery” although it’s known to be a villain because…well, just look at the guy.  I’m not saying that as a person, Feore himself is a bad human being but he does have the look of a guy who would enjoy ruining your life.  I’m sure that makes for awkward family photos at the Feore household.

“Thor” is currently slated to hit theaters on May 20th, 2011.
