Hoping to revitalize yet another horror icon, Platinum Dunes' looks like they're on the right track for the resurrection of Freddy Krueger and the A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise.  Our partners at Omelete have a landed three new images and the synopsis from the upcoming film and they make sure you know that Freddy has a claw-glove and it's fucking terrifying.  Imagine how bad the sound would be if he scrapped those down a chalkboard.  Your eardrums wouldn't survive.

Here's the synopsis:

Horror. Freddy Krueger (Jackie Earle Haley) returns in "A Nightmare on Elm Street", a contemporary re-imagining of the horror classic. A group of suburban teenagers share one common bond: they are all being stalked by Freddy Krueger, a horribly disfigured killer who hunts them in their dreams. As long as they stay awake, they can protect one another...but when they sleep, there is no escape.
