Beetlejuice 2 is looking like it's going to become a reality.  The film has been in development for years, and Tim Burton has never taken his eye completely off of it.  Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter writer Seth Grahame-Smith was tasked with penning a new screenplay, but Burton said his involvement was based on the quality of the script.  Now it appears that script is good enough as The Wrap reports that Burton is in talks to direct the further adventures of the mischievous ghoul.

Burton recently wrapped on the biopic Big Eyes, and there was the possibility he would follow it up with an adaptation of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, but now that project could be taking a backseat to something else.  While The Wrap says that his next project "definitely won’t be Beetlejuice 2," the flirtation with the possibility of doing the sequel has gotten serious.  They're thinking about moving in together.

As for Keaton, he's been keeping busy lately with roles in HBO's Clear History, Alejandro González Iñárritu's Birdman, the remake of RoboCop, and the adaptation of the video game Need for Speed.  But when it comes to reprising Beetlejuice, Keaton said back in 2010 that "Oh, I’d do that in a heartbeat… Absolutely.  That’s the one thing I’d love to do again."  He's busier now than he was three years ago, but The Wrap reports that the actor is expected to return.  That's terrific because if Beetlejuice 2 is going to happen, nobody other than Keaton should play the role.  They'll just look silly.
