We have an exclusive behind-the-scenes featurette from the upcoming film Whiskey Tango Foxtrot to share today. Scripted by 30 Rock co-showrunner Robert Carlock and directed by Focus and Crazy, Stupid, Love. helmers Glen Ficarra and John Requa, the film is based on Kim Barker’s memoir The Taliban Shuffle: Strange Days in Afghanistan and Pakistan and stars Tina Fey as a journalist who’s sent to Kabul on assignment and becomes entrenched in a culture of adrenaline and parties.

In this exclusive featurette, Fey, Carlock, and Barker herself talk about the real-life basis for much of the film’s events, with Fey noting that many of the events that seem incredulous are actually pulled directly from Barker’s experience. Co-star Margot Robbie points out that the film is unique for the comedy genre in that it’s incredibly grounded, as Carlock appropriately notes, “It’s real life to the extent that real life is ridiculous.”

Take a look at the behind-the-scenes featurette below and click here to watch our interviews with the cast, during which they play a movie version of the game “Would You Rather?”. The film also stars Martin Freeman, Alfred Molina, Christopher Abbott, and Billy Bob Thornton and opens in theaters on March 4th.
