A new image from Terrence Malick’s upcoming romantic drama To the Wonder has surfaced.  The film was shot back in 2010, but Malick recently unveiled his latest work at the Venice Film Festival to an unsurprisingly mixed response.  Ben Affleck stars as a man who returns to his small hometown in Oklahoma with his new love at his side (Olga Kurylenko).  Problems soon arise as Kurylenko meets a priest who is struggling with his vocation (Javier Bardem) and Affleck renews his ties with a childhood friend (Rachel McAdams).  After years of being in the dark, we recently learned quite a bit about the film via a detailed synopsis and comments from Affleck describing its loose narrative as “the memory of a life.”

Hit the jump to check out the new image featuring Affleck and Kurylenko in France.  The film is set to screen this week at the Toronto Film Festival, so look for Matt’s full review here on Collider soon.  To the Wonder is currently awaiting a release date.

Here’s the short synopsis for To the Wonder:

After visiting Mont Saint-Michel — once known in France as the Wonder — at the height of their love, Marina (Olga Kurylenko) and Neil (Ben Affleck) come to Oklahoma, where problems soon arise. Marina makes the acquaintance of a priest and fellow exile (Javier Bardem), who is struggling with his vocation, while Neil renews his ties with a childhood friend, Jane (Rachel McAdams). Written and directed by Terrence Malick, TO THE WONDER is an exploration of love in its many forms.
