Producer Adrian Askarieh (Hitman) revealed today that director Todd Lincoln (the upcoming horror-thriller The Apparition) will helm the upcoming adaptation of the Wildstorm comic series Danger Girl.  Speaking to the LA Times, Askareih says the comics are "Kill Bill meets Raiders of the Lost Ark with the "team" element of Mission: Impossible."  However, Askareih says they'll be taking a Batman Begins approach the film by taking the characters "very seriously."  The producer says it will be the anti-Charlie's Angels.

Hit the jump for more about what Askarieh had to say about the project and more details about the property.

Askarieh says he wants the film to be "serious and fun" at the same time.  He says Lincoln, "envisions a hyper-stylized, hyper-action action film, but with a heart and with characters you care about."  That sounds very much like Kick-Ass, which I saw a couple days ago and loved.

As for the timetable, talent, etc. for Danger Girl, Askarieh says we should expect an announcement at this year's San Diego Comic-Con.

Here's the product description of the Danger Girl: The Deluxe Edition comic [via Amazon]:

Danger Girl follows the story of renowned Archeologist and adventurer Abbey Chase as she is recruited by the super-secret spy organization, Danger Girl. Along with fellow operatives, Sydney Savage and Natalia Kasstle, Abbey was brought into Danger Girl by the enigmatic Deuce, a former British Secret Service agent who is the team leader. Their first mission together is to locate a series of mystical relics and keep them out of the hands of the Hammer Syndicate, a huge criminal network bent on world domination! The massively popular Danger Girl is collected in this oversized hardcover book boasting a new cover and over 20 pages of Danger Girl drawings and sketches by J. Scott Campbell, many published here for the first time.

Wikipedia describes the as "a send-up of the Bond-girls. Unlike the Bond girls, however, the Danger Girls are the stars of the series."
