Producer Adrian Askarieh (Hitman) revealed today that director Todd Lincoln (the upcoming horror-thriller The Apparition) will helm the upcoming adaptation of the Wildstorm comic series Danger Girl. Speaking to the LA Times, Askareih says the comics are “Kill Bill meets Raiders of the Lost Ark with the “team” element of Mission: Impossible.” However, Askareih says they’ll be taking a Batman Begins approach the film by taking the characters “very seriously.” The producer says it will be the anti-Charlie’s Angels.

Askarieh says he wants the film to be “serious and fun” at the same time. He says Lincoln, “envisions a hyper-stylized, hyper-action action film, but with a heart and with characters you care about.” That sounds very much like Kick-Ass, which I saw a couple days ago and loved.
As for the timetable, talent, etc. for Danger Girl, Askarieh says we should expect an announcement at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.
Here’s the product description of the Danger Girl: The Deluxe Edition comic [via Amazon]:

Wikipedia describes the as “a send-up of the Bond-girls. Unlike the Bond girls, however, the Danger Girls are the stars of the series.”
