Tom Hardy to Replace Sam Worthington in McG’s THIS MEANS WAR

by Matt Goldberg    Posted:July 27th, 2010 at 12:29 pm

Tom Hardy, riding high from the buzz he’s receiving for his work in Inception, has signed on to replace Sam Worthington in McG’s action-romantic-comedy This Means War.  According to Vulture, Worthington was never firmly attached to the project, but Hardy is officially on board.  The film centers on two spies (Hardy and Chris Pine) who wage special-ops warfare on each other when they both fall for the same lady (Reese Witherspoon).  While I have little-to-no faith in McG as a director, I love this premise.

Hardy is currently set to play Mad Max Rockatansky opposite Charlize Theron in George Miller’s upcoming Mad Max: Fury Road.  He’s also vying for a role in the crime drama The Sweeney.  As anyone who has seen Bronson will tell you, Hardy is the goods and I’m happy to see him grab another high-profile project.

I'm with yo Matt. Everything sounds cool except for MCG.

Can't wait to see what Hardy brings to Max. Bronson!!

Tom Hardy working with McG? That's just not right. McG is a useless by-the-numbers hack whereas Hardy is a first class actor on his way to the top.

I still have hopes for this. The three leads are incredibly likable so if the screenplay shines, this movie may turn out to be super awesome despite McG.

Forgot to add that I am very excited in seeing the on-screen chemistry between Tom Hardy and Reese Witherspoon. Could be something incredible and refreshing.

Hopefully Witherspoon will get killed of in the crossfire between the Pine & Hardy.
Then it will get really exciting!

    end of line
