New Full-Length TOMORROWLAND Trailer Further Reveals Brad Bird’s Original Sci-Fi Film

     March 9, 2015

Disney has released a new, full-length Tomorrowland trailer for director Brad Bird‘s (The IncrediblesMission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol) original sci-fi film. Co-written and produced by Damon Lindelof, the movie stars Britt Robertson (Under the Dome) as an optimistic young teen with scientific curiosity who teams up with a disillusioned former boy-genius inventor (George Clooney) to embark on a journey to uncover the secrets “of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space that exists in their collective memory as ‘Tomorrowland.'”

Judging by this trailer, the film is filled with giddy, sci-fi spectacle that includes everything from jet packs to rocket bathtubs. The visuals are astounding, and Bird seems to have delivered a grand sense of adventure and wonder. The only thing missing is humor, but considering how that’s been such a huge part of the director’s other films, I’d be shocked if it was absent from Tomorrowland.   This continues to be one of my most-anticipated films of 2015, and while other original sci-fi flicks this year have flamed out (Jupiter Ascending, Chappie) Bird’s movie looks like it’s ready to blast off.

Watch the new Tomorrowland trailer below, via Disney. The film also stars Hugh Laurie, Raffey Cassidy, Tim McGraw, Judy Greer, Kathryn Hahn, Keegan-Michael Key, and Thomas Robinson. Tomorrowland opens in traditional theaters and IMAX on May 22nd.

Here’s the official synopsis for Tomorrowland:

From Disney comes two-time Oscar® winner Brad Bird’s riveting, mystery adventure “Tomorrowland,” starring Academy Award® winner George Clooney. Bound by a shared destiny, former boy-genius Frank (Clooney), jaded by disillusionment, and Casey (Britt Robertson), a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity, embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space known only as “Tomorrowland.” What they must do there changes the world—and them—forever.

Featuring a screenplay by “Lost” writer and co-creator Damon Lindelof and Brad Bird, from a story by Lindelof & Bird & Jeff Jensen, “Tomorrowland” promises to take audiences on a thrill ride of nonstop adventures through new dimensions that have only been dreamed of.
