In today's opening paragraph I feel compelled to share this bit of wisdom with all of our readers: don't ever attempt to renovate a house without ample professional help. Never. Just don't do it. For the past three weeks I, the least handy person you may never meet, have been tasked with doing things that only Bob Vila and a few select others could be reasonably prepared for. It's an all-consuming, seemingly neverending process that leaves you as the only movie blogger in the history of the civilized world who hasn't yet seen The Avengers. Trust me, it's a lonely place...All warnings aside, in store for you in this week's Top 5 is the first poster for the Anchorman sequel, Anchorman: The Legend Continues, pleasant news regarding the Blade Runner sequel, interviews with Cameron Diaz, Anna Kendrick and more for the rom-com What to Expect When You're Expecting, the first trailer for producer Sam Raimi's The Possession, and a 4-minute "super preview" of The Amazing Spider-Man. Per usual, a brief recap and link to each falls after the jump.1. First Poster for ANCHORMAN: THE LEGEND CONTINUESAnchorman-2-The-Legend-Continues-sliceSure, it's a picture from the shin down of four people who probably aren't actually the "real" Channel 4 news team. That said, this first poster for the Anchorman sequel, Anchorman: The Legend Continues, has my full attention not because of its spectacular design but because it's further evidence that this really is happening. I've never been one to wish my life away, but 2013 really can't get here soon enough.2. Original BLADE RUNNER Screenwriter, Hampton Fancher, Returns to Pen Sequelblade-runner-harrison-ford-sliceWhen word broke last summer that Ridley Scott would be returning to the world of Blade Runner to direct a sequel, I can't say I was all that excited. In fact, I'm still not. For me, Blade Runner is a true sci-fi classic and something that I'd rather see left in peace. Nevertheless, I guess if a sequel absolutely must be made, I suppose I would rather see Scott and Blade Runner writer Hampton Fancher take a crack at it than anyone else.3. WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU'RE EXPECTING InterviewsCameron-Diaz-Matthew-Morrison-What-to-Expect-When-Youre-Expectng-interview-sliceThis weekend, the ensemble romantic comedy What to Expect When You're Expecting finds itself in the unenviable position of opening only two weeks after the box office buzz saw that is The Avengers. $3.9 million on its opening Friday later and I can only offer my sincere condolences to Cameron Diaz and co. in the form of a Top 5 slot that features our video interviews with Ms. Diaz and Glee's Matthew Morrison, Chace Crawford and Anna Kendrick (check out our solo interview with Ms. Kendrick here), Elizabeth Banks and Ben Falcone, and director Kirk Jones.4. First Trailer for Producer Sam Raimi's THE POSSESSIONthe-possession-sliceGiven my excitement for most all things Sam Raimi/horror genre related, it was basically a foregone conclusion that this first trailer for The Possession (produced by Raimi) was going to make the cut this week regardless of how it looked. To my delight, it actually looks pretty solid in spite of the fact that it will likely ruin my love of searching out and purchasing yard sale treasures.5. 4-Minute "Super Preview" and New Posters for THE AMAZING SPIDER-MANamazing-spider-man-sliceAside from the opening title card proclaiming it as the "Summer's Most Anticipated", I can pretty much get behind this 4-minute "super preview" of The Amazing Spider-Man from beginning to end. Director Marc Webb and co. seem to have nailed Spidey's trademark sense of humor and the opening sequence featuring the wall crawler empowering an endangered youth via his mask toes the line between rewarding subtext and on-the-nose melodrama with precision. Combine the extended preview with these two new posters, and it's pretty clear that Sony is officially in "all hands on deck" mode for the pic.
