I want to send a big “Thank You” to my colleagues Matt, Adam, and Dave for inviting me to be a part of our new podcast, The Collision, last week. I had an excellent time chatting it up with Matt and Adam and I give those guys and Dave a ton of credit for using what might otherwise be well deserved time off (i.e. Sunday nights) in the name of continuing to offer our readers additional original content. In case you missed it, I encourage you to click here to listen to Episode 4 and click here to add The Collision to your RSS feed.

In this week’s Top 5, you’ll find a slew of new assets for G.I. Joe: Retaliation, video interviews with Jason Segel, Emily Blunt and more for The Five-Year Engagement, the first images from Django Unchained, a stellar first trailer for Lawless, and a recap of all of our CinemaCon 2012 coverage. Check out a brief recap and link to each after the jump.

1. New Trailers, Posters, and Interviews for G.I. JOE: RETALIATION

When you combine the considerable amount of explosions on display in this latest trailer with director Jon M. Chu’s admission to Steve that G.I. Joe: Retaliation will include a 9-10 minute sequence of “dialogue free, kick-ass ninja action”, it leaves very little room for me to consider whether or not I need to see the film. Based on those two things alone, the answer is “yes, yes I do”. In case you need a little more convincing, though, perhaps this interview with Dwayne Johnson, these new posters, or this international trailer will help do the trick.

2. THE FIVE-YEAR ENGAGEMENT Interviews with Jason Segel, Emily Blunt, and More

Forgetting Sarah Marshall is one of my favorite romantic comedies of the past five years or so. As a result, I’m excited to see Jason Segel and director Nicholas Stoller reunite alongside an outstanding comedic cast for The Five-Year Engagement. Even though Matt cites the pic for pacing issues in his own review, I’m more than prepared to dish out my own box office dollars with the hopes of taking in something that is 2/3 as memorable as Sarah Marshall. If you feel similarly, be sure to learn more about The Five-Year Engagement by checking out Steve’s video interviews with Segel and his lovely co-star Emily Blunt, Alison Brie, and the aforementioned Nicholas Stoller.

3. First Images for Quentin Tarantino’s DJANGO UNCHAINED

Although I’ll admit to being less of a Tarantino fan than some, I would be lying if I said I wasn’t looking forward to his latest effort, Django Unchained. The director has assembled an excellent cast that is, in my opinion, made all the better by Leonardo DiCaprio playing the villain (a reviled plantation owner named Calvin Candie). While these first images from the pic may not provide us a ton of context, they do support my theory that villains are always just a little more villainous when rocking a goatee.

4. First Trailer for Director John Hillcoat’s LAWLESS

With the film set to premiere in just a few weeks at this year’s Cannes Film festival, the first trailer for director John Hillcoat’s prohibition-era crime drama, Lawless, hit the interwebs this week. The film stars Gary Oldman, Guy Pearce, Jessica Chastain, Tom Hardy, and Shia LaBeouf just to name a few and features Pearce posing the question “Do you have any idea what a Thompson sub-machine gun does to a mortal?”. In short, it’s most likely going to be awesome.

5. All of our CinemaCon 2012 Coverage

While it may be hard to associate Las Vegas with work, the site’s front page can assure you that Steve has spent the past week putting in long hours to bring you a wide variety of coverage from CinemaCon 2012. Sure, a highlight of the coverage certainly includes a video blog recap of Warner Bros.’ presentation of footage from The Dark Knight Rises, The Hobbit in 48fps, and more. That said, you would probably just do well to settle in for a few minutes and click here for all of our coverage as I’m confident that you’ll find at least a couple items of interest that you may have missed.

I do agree with all the ideas you have introduced on your post. They are really convincing and can certainly work. Still, the posts are very quick for starters. May you please prolong them a bit from subsequent time? Thanks for the post.
