I started writing for Collider in June of 2010. My first post was a casting article about Matt Lucas joining Bridesmaids. I sent it to Steve as a writing sample after meeting him at a party for Scott Pilgrim vs. the World the night before. I wanted it to be informative but also witty and in a unique voice. Like something that Matt Goldberg or Brendan Bettinger might write. Reading back through it now, I’m not sure all of my punches landed but it was a start and passable enough that Steve published it. I was thankful for the opportunity then and I still am today.
Today is my last day writing for Collider. It has been an absolute pleasure to be a part of the team the past 5 1/2 years and I couldn’t be more grateful for your readership and more proud of the ways in which the site has grown in that amount of time. It’s a testament to the hard work and level of commitment of everyone involved that this thing is reaching a wider audience than ever without losing sight of what made it great to begin with. Before I started writing for the site, I was a frequent reader. I loved it because it felt like a place run by people who were passionate about film/television for people who loved those same things. As I transition back into being a Collider reader, I’m happy to report that’s exactly what it is still today.
Dry your eyes, folks, and let’s get to the Top 5 one last time:
