Last night I uncovered a gem from 2011 for the first time and my only regret is that I didn't take the time to seek it out sooner. Writer/director Thomas McCarthy's dramedy Win Win is not only consistently funny but also chock full of both heartwarming and heartbreaking moments. The performances are terrific all-around, the script is strong albeit somewhat easy to telegraph, and the wrestling scenes are even surprisingly intense at times (I mean, it was nominated for a prestigious ESPY for "Best Sports Film" after all). Matt gave the film his full endorsement when he reviewed it at Sundance 2011 and I'm doing the same here today.Movie recommendations aside, in what was yet another busy week around these parts, the five standouts include our Skyfall interviews with Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem, director Sam Mendes and more, a Beautiful Creatures set visit recap, the first trailer for Brad Pitt's World War Z, even more set visit goodness from Arnold Schwarzenegger's The Last Stand, and ongoing development news for the next Star Wars trilogy. Keep reading for brief recaps and links to all of the above. 1. SKYFALL Interviews with Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem and Moreskyfall-poster-sliceIn celebration of Agent 007's 23rd film hitting U.S. theaters this weekend, Steve landed a trio of video interviews with the cast including Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem, and Dame Judi Dench. Additionally, our Sheila Roberts caught up with Craig, director Sam Mendes, and producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson at the film's Los Angeles press day. Finally, lest we forget, Matt's review of the pic in which he calls Skyfall "one of the series' most exhilarating, perfectly crafted, and absolutely captivating entries to date".2. BEAUTIFUL CREATURES Set Visitbeautiful-creatures-sliceI know very little about the "Young Adult" section at bookstores. Not because I'm too mature (definitely not the case) or too old (although I probably am), but mostly because I choose to invest my "immature pop culture time" on things such as movies, video games, and the occasional comic book as opposed to bestsellers like The Hunger Games or Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl's Beautiful Creatures. That said, based on Scott's Beautiful Creatures set visit recap, and his on-set interviews with Alice Englert, Emmy Rossum, Alden Ehrenreich, and Margot Martindale, I get the feeling that the box office take won't necessarily be hurting for my $10 when this Twilight-esque adaptation hits the big screen.3. First Trailer for WORLD WAR Zworld-war-z-brad-pitt-sliceTo be honest, World War Z's first trailer makes the cut this week moreso based upon the anticipation leading up to its release than its actual delivery. Of course, this doesn't mean that I've given up all hope on Marc Forster's adaptation of the Max Brooks zombie novel. Just that I was largely underwhelmed with the footage in spite of the fact that it featured more CGI zombies than I could have ever imagined.4. THE LAST STAND Set Visitthe-last-stand-poster-sliceNot only did this past week bring us a new trailer for Arnold Schwarzenegger's big screen "Welcome Home Party", The Last Stand, but it also presented a surplus of set visit coverage from the film. Click here for Dave's visit recap, not to be outdone by his on-set interviews with Schwarzenegger, director Kim Jee-woon, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, and Eduardo Noriega.5. STAR WARS Sequel Newsstar-wars-logo-sliceIf you've visited Collider anytime in the past two weeks, you know that we've been bringing you Star Wars sequel news by the spoonful since Disney announced that it had purchased Lucasfilm and would begin a new trilogy in 2015. In case you've missed any of the tidbits that we've posted in the days since then, I'd like to present this link to all of our Star Wars sequel news, including the word that Oscar-winning screenwriter Michael Arndt (Toy Story 3) will pen the screenplay for Star Wars: Episode VII.
