Today is a good day. The Cardinals are World Series champions, trick r' treaters will soon be out in full force, and I've got a night of horror films to look forward to. Once a year, my fiancée agrees to watch a few pics of the scary variety (or at least Halloween themed ones, i.e. Ernest Scared Stupid) with me in the hopes that I won't ask her to partake in them again until the following Halloween weekend. Last year's highlights included Drag Me to Hell and Trick r' Treat. This year is shaping up to be Tobe Hooper-heavy with Poltergeist and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre possibly making the cut. Like I said, today is a good day. Before you dive into whatever Halloween festivities may await you, I hope you'll take a few minutes and check out what this week's "Top 5" has to offer. In this installment you'll find the first trailer for Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace 3D, a new trailer for Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, and interviews for this weekend's openers In Time, Anonymous and The Rum Diary. Hit the jump for a brief recap and link to each.1. First Trailer for STAR WARS: EPISODE I - THE PHANTOM MENACE 3Dstar-wars-episode-i-the-phantom-menace-sliceIn spite of the fact that you have watched all of the Star Wars films countless times, if you haven't seen them on Blu-ray, ahem in 3D, have you really seen them? This first trailer for the release of Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace 3D does its best to assure you that you haven't. As for me, I'll pass for now with the hope that the re-release of the entire Star Wars collection in 4D Aromascope isn't too far off.2. New Trailer for MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - GHOST PROTOCOLmission-impossible-ghost-protocol-imax-poster-sliceI gotta give it to Tom Cruise. Although he may do some crazy things every now and again (i.e. jumping up and down on Oprah's couch), every so often one of those crazy things is actually pretty badass (i.e. doing his own skyscraper repelling stunts). Check out this new trailer for Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol for more examples of Cruise's craziness turned awesome.3. IN TIME Interviews with Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried, Andrew Niccol and Morein-time-poster-slice-1I've said numerous times in the months of coverage we've provided for In Time that I'm going to give the flick the benefit of the doubt based solely upon my undying love of Andrew Niccol's The Truman Show screenplay. Although reviews for the pic have been less than stellar (our very own Matt Goldberg gave the film a C-), I'm standing by my sentiment and plan on giving it my box office dollars. In the meantime, if you have similar plans of either genuinely enjoying the film or being an In Time apologist, I recommend checking out our interviews with writer/director Andrew Niccol, and Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried, Vincent Kartheiser and Matt Bomer.4. Roland Emmerich Talks ANONYMOUS, ASTEROIDS and SINGULARITYDirector Roland Emmerich ANONYMOUS interview sliceDirector Roland Emmerich has quite the track record of big-budget, disaster, alien invasion, the whole world is going to die unless Will Smith and/or Dennis Quaid can save it films. That said, his latest effort, Anonymous, is a touch more lax and focuses more on a conspiracy to cover up the true author of William Shakespeare's plays and less on the inevitable apocalypse. I mean, it may be no Universal Soldier, but Anonymous (and Steve's video interview with the director) might still be worth your time.5. THE RUM DIARY Interviews with Johnny Depp, Amber Heard, Bruce Robinson and Morethe_rum_diary_image_johnny_depp_sliceThe Rum Diary provides moviegoers and fans of Terry Gilliam's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas a chance to see Johnny Depp re-enter the world of Hunter S. Thompson. Depending on your feelings toward each of the above, this could be a good or bad thing. As for me, I just can't seem to get enough of Richard Jenkins in that ridiculous wig on display in the trailer. Regardless of your own motivation for seeing the film, I recommend checking out our interviews with Johnny Depp and director Bruce Robinson, Amber Heard, and Giovanni Ribisi.
