This time last week, I was writing about how happy I was to be in San Diego, 2,000 miles away from the godless heat of the Midwest. Fast-forward to the present, and I'm happy to report that things back home have really cooled off with a heat index hovering right around a brisk 108 degrees Fahrenheit. At this rate, I should be able to check my mail without fear of sweating through my clothes any day now (baby steps, people, baby steps). Because I truly care about our readers, I'm hoping that wherever you're reading this from is cool, comfortable, and free of any sort of sweating. Now, onto the important stuff...

1. THE AVENGERS Coverage (Editorial, New Images, Concept Art, and More)
Short of actually presenting new footage in panel format, Marvel took full advantage of the week that was San Diego Comic-Con to get moviegoers talking (more) about its upcoming superhero team-up event The Avengers. Since I've known Steve, he has interviewed a countless number of players in the entertainment industry. That said, I've never seen him quite as excited to talk with someone as he was the legendary Patrick Stewart at Comic-Con last week. 3. First Look at Universal's SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN
Granted, there are enough Snow White projects currently circulating Hollywood that over-saturation is less a possibility and more an inevitability. Nevertheless, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't at least a little intrigued by the grittiness and slightly darker tone that director Rupert Sanders' Snow White and the Huntsman looks to embody. 4. First Trailer for BATTLESHIP
Honestly, I'm really not sure what to make of Battleship. Don't get me wrong, when I was younger I loved sinking ships that belonged to my brothers and cousins as much as the next kid. But, does nostalgia alone a good movie make? When (unlike with, say, Transformers or G.I. Joe) there really isn't any backstory within the original property to adapt, what is the hook that gets moviegoers excited? This week, director Peter Berg's released the trailer for his Battleship adaptation with the answer I should have seen coming all along: aliens. Click here to check out the trailer for yourself.
5. CRAZY, STUPID, LOVE. Interviews and Review
I'll be honest: I'm a sucker for a good romantic comedy. The only problem is that, in American cinema at least, they come along so infrequently that I have to withstand numerous installments in the genre that are trite and damn near unwatchable before getting one that, at the very least, doesn't make me feel like a worse person for having seen it. I'm hoping that Crazy, Stupid, Love. will be that "one."
