Happy Saturday, everyone. The fall movie season is upon us and, in honor of its arrival, Adam and myself are working on a “most anticipated” feature which you should be able to check out later this weekend. As a result of working on that little diddy, I’m cutting my typically awe-inspiring opening “Top 5″ paragraph a little short. I know, I know…you’re heartbroken.
In this week’s installment you’ll find all of our coverage from the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival; a plethora of set visit materials from Real Steel, End of Watch and Dolphin Tale; and a look at Nike’s Back to the Future MAGs. Hit the jump for a brief recap and link to each.
1. All of Our TIFF 2011 Coverage
Here at Collider, there are two types of people: the type that attends the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival and the type that lives vicariously through the first type. Honestly, there are a ton of great things going down at TIFF right now and Matt and Steve are doing their level best to relay as much of it as possible. We’ve already posted a slew of reviews from the festival’s opening weekend and we have many more coming your way not too mention some sweet, sweet interviews as well. You can continue to remain abreast on all of our coverage by clicking here.
2. REAL STEEL Set Visit Coverage and Hugh Jackman Interview
Believe it or not, even if you played a ton of Rock ‘em Sock ‘em Robots back in the day, there’s still a lot about Hugh Jackman and director Shawn Levy’s robot boxing pic Real Steel that you may not know. Naturally, we’ve done our best to address those questions with our set visit video blog and on set interview with Jackman.
3. 20 Things to Know About END OF WATCH from Our Exclusive Set Visit
While we get to participate in our fair share of set visits, it isn’t all that often that we’re the only web outlet on set. That’s exactly the scenario we were working with during Steve’s recent visit to the South Central L.A. set of writer/director David Ayer’s (Harsh Times) crime drama End of Watch starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Anna Kendrick and Michael Peña. As a result of that visit, you the reader gets to reap all of the benefits in the form of “20 Things to Know About the Film” and the first official images and synopsis.
4. DOLPHIN TALE Set Visit Coverage
I’d say it’s pretty clear that the family drama Dolphin Tale isn’t a film that’s being marketed to our own target audience. For my own part, though, I can’t help but be interested in any movie that includes two of my favorite things: dolphins (they’re majestic, okay?) and Morgan Freeman (also kind of majestic in his own way). If you feel anywhere near the same, you may want to check out our set visit coverage of the film which includes interviews with Freeman, Ashley Judd, director Charles Martin Smith and fellow stars Austin Stowell and Nathan Gamble.
5. Nike’s BACK TO THE FUTURE MAGs
There’s a lot of things about Marty McFly’s life that I covet: the ability to travel through time, his hoverboard and those self-lacing sneakers all residing near the top of the list. With this in mind, I’d like to thank Nike for giving me hope that I may one day be able to cross at least one of these things off of my list. Now, if only I had a large sum of disposable (or nondisposable for that matter) cash lying around, these unbelievably sweet Nike MAGs would be mine. A guy can dream, can’t he?
