TOP 5: Potential TRANSFORMERS Directors, HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS Set Visit, STAR TREK Video Game, THE HOBBIT, Guillermo del Toro and Katie Holmes Video Interview

by     Posted 3 years, 43 days ago

With the weekly “Top 5″ feature now in full-swing, I feel obliged to remind readers that these are indeed meant to synthesize what we perceive as our top five pieces into a recap article. We do this with the hopes that readers will not miss out on some of the best stuff we have to offer on a weekly basis. This in mind, if you are an extremely loyal visitor (for which, we say a sincere “thank you”) who is 100% positive that you’ve read all we have to offer, the recaps may seem somewhat redundant. The best remedy for such redundancy is to steer clear of the jump. Otherwise…

…In this week’s “Top 5″ you’ll find us musing on which director might take over the Transformers franchise, our Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows set visit and video blog, our take on the next Star Trek video game acting as canon, the first look at Nori, Ori, and Dori in The Hobbit, and Steve’s video interview with Guillermo del Toro and Katie Holmes. Hit the jump for brief recaps and links to each.

1. 6 Directors Who Could Take Over the TRANSFORMERS Franchise

With Michael Bay’s run on the Transformers franchise coming to an end, Matt throws out six potential directors who may fill the director’s explosion-happy shoes. Click here to check out his list and join the debate.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 poster slice

I feel like epic is a word that gets thrown around way too often. As a result of this oversaturation, the term loses a lot of its intended weight. This in mind, I can’t help but feel like both the Harry Potter franchise in general and Steve’s latest set visit report and video blog from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallow both deserve to be referred to as things that are “grand in scale or character.” Click here to check out his report and decide for yourself.

3. Upcoming STAR TREK Video Game Is Canon and Will Serve as a Bridge to STAR TREK 2

Admittedly, video games are not our forte here at Collider. But just because we tend to focus on other aspects of the entertainment industry more heavily doesn’t mean we don’t like to indulge in video game discussion from time to time. For a glimpse of said discussion click here to read Matt’s take on Star Trek executive producer/co-writer Roberto Orci claiming that the latest Trek game will function as a bridge between 2009′s Star Trek and its untitled sequel.

4. First Look at Nori, Ori, and Dori in THE HOBBIT

A few weeks ago, we brought you the first images from Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit. In the spirit of keeping momentum steady for the upcoming pic, Warner Bros. followed those up with a first look at the dwarves Nori, Ori, and Dori. Click here to check out the new images and click here for all of our previous The Hobbit coverage.

5. Exclusive: Guillermo del Toro and Katie Holmes Video Interview DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK

Guillermo del Toro and Katie Holmes DON'T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK slice

One of my most anticipated films for this year is director Troy Nixey’s Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark. One of my favorite filmmakers in general is producer Guillermo del Toro. As a result, it’s only natural that del Toro talking about Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark (alongside star Katie Holmes) would make this week’s “Top 5″ cut. Click here to check out Steve’s video interview with the pair.
