After three hugely successful films spanning 15 years, what’s left for the CGI heroes of Toy Story to do?  Go tropical of course. We recently reported that the characters of Toy Story 3 would be returning to theaters in a short attached to Pixar’s upcoming Cars 2.  Details of a Hawaiian honeymoon-themed Toy Story short have leaked in the form of a summary of a yet-to-be-released children’s book entitled Play-cation. Published in a joint effort of Random House and Disney, Play-cation tells the story of Barbie and Ken’s honeymoon immediately following the events of Toy Story 3.  Full details after the jump:According to the book’s official synopsis via Amazon (via PixarBlog):

“Bonnie is off to Hawaii, and Barbie and Ken are excited to go along on their first tropical vacation! But when they're accidentally left behind, it's up to Buzz, Woody, and the rest of the toys to create a Hawaiian paradise right in Bonnie's room.

Based on the latest animated short featuring the toys from Disney/Pixar Toy Story, this full-color storybook includes punch-out postcards that girls and boys ages 3-7 will love sending to their friends!”

This isn’t the first time that Pixar has revealed an upcoming short in book form.  The story based on Day and Night, the stylish music-only short that played alongside TS3 came out in a similar fashion last year.

Of course the big question is, should Pixar be making a Toy Story short film so soon after the perfect ending of Toy Story 3?  If this was any other company, I'd say this is a terrible idea. But with Pixar's track record, I think the short will be a classic.  Cars 2 is scheduled for release June 24, 2011.
