It always feels a bit cruel to show you a trailer for a film you probably won’t get to see in theaters.  Peter Stebbings’ Defendor, which stars Woody Harrelson as a regular guy going into the superhero business with the most basic of weapons (e.g. marbles, angry wasps), played to positive notices at last year’s Toronto Film Festival, and today, TrailerAddict has debuted the trailer for the film. The movie looks smart, funny, and I want to see it now.  Sadly, unless it scores the highest per-screen gross at the box office when it opens in L.A. on February 26th, then we probably won’t be seeing Harrelson fight crime until the film hits DVD and Blu-ray on April 13th.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer along with the official synopsis.

For those just tuning in, here’s the official synopsis for Defendor:

ARTHUR POPPINGTON, is a regular man who adopts a superhero persona known as “DEFENDOR” and combs the city streets at night in search of his arch enemy CAPTAIN INDUSTRY. In his attempts to combat crime and bring down this drug and weapons dealer, whom he mistakenly blames for the death of his mother, Defendor ends up befriending a young prostitute. Armed with unconventional weapons like marbles and paper clips, and with his new friend by his side, Defendor proves that everyone is capable of making a difference as he puts his life on the line and foils the entire crime operation.

  1. This looks funny, and a lot like Kick-Ass o.o

But Woody Harrelson is awesome and Kat Dennings is hot so I definitely will be buying it on DVD even if it doesn't hit theaters.

  2. I'll totally steal it from you dude! LOL!

This looks really cool and yeah I'll be watching it after I steal your copy of DVD!

  3. I think I saw this trailer a while ago. It looks good. It sucks that movies like WHen IN ROME get wide releases and cool stuff like this never see the light of day. That's showbiz.
