Shane Meadows is one of those filmmakers that I feel is still a well kept secret that only hardcore cinephiles and film geeks know about. If you haven’t seen any of his previous films then I highly recommend his brutal revenge film, “Dead Man’s Shoes”. If that’s not your cup of tea then I can also highly recommend his coming-of-age film, “This is England”. The man has a lot of talent and even though I still haven’t seen his last film, “Somers Town”, I still look forward to anything that he will do, especially if it stars the highly underrated Paddy Considine (“In America”, “Hot Fuzz”).
So, I was pretty surprised to stumble upon the trailer for Shane Meadow’s new mockumentary film, “Le Donk & Scor-Zay-Zee”, starring Considine as a road manager named Le Donk who is trying to get The Arctic Monkeys to allow his latest find, a rapper named “Scor-Zay-Zee”. to perform on stage with them at a gig. You can watch the full trailer after the jump.
I’ll admit that I didn’t laugh once during the trailer and it really doesn’t look that amazing to me but knowing who the talent is behind and in the front of the camera makes this one a must watch for me. While reading up on the film I also found out that Meadows filmed the entire film in 5 days and I think that it shows just in the trailer. I wish Meadows was doing something more serious but I’ll take what I can get.
