The first trailer for Tron Legacy has gone online via the lovely FlynnLives viral campaign. This is the trailer that Steve saw two weeks ago and if you saw Alice in Wonderland this past weekend (and a lot of you did), you probably saw it too. It’s a great trailer so if you haven’t seen it yet or want to see it again, you’re going to want to hit the jump.
As you’ll see time and time again with this movie, it pays to follow the viral campaign because it unveiled the site where you can see the new trailer. Of course, trailers and so forth become available to everyone not long after they’re unveiled in the viral campaign, but it’s still rewarding for the truly devoted to get the shot at a first look.
Hit the jump for the official synopsis and we’ll have an embed of the trailer for you soon. The film stars Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, Michael Sheen, and Academy-Award Winner Jeff Bridges (and yes, it is cool to write that). Tron Legacy hits theaters on December 17th.
[Update: We've now embedded the trailer after the jump]

For those just tuning in, here’s the official synopsis for Tron Legacy:
TRON is a 3D high-tech adventure set in a digital world that’s unlike anything ever captured on the big screen. Sam Flynn (GARRETT HEDLUND), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (JEFF BRIDGES), looks into his father’s disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin’s loyal confidant (OLIVIA WILDE), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.

Hmm, I thought it would be better. They don't really show much.

sometimes that's a good thing! =)
cus JJ did that with Star Trek or the longest..
True. Very true. I guess I was expecting too much because I heard great buzz about it.
I forgot to say that Olivia Wylde looks H to the O to the T!
What do you hope for most in this sequel?
Its been talked about for nearly 14 years. There have been two video games based on original script plans (those were changed).
The trailer looks great. Its gonna be in 3D and the new light cycles look AWSOME.

I hope this TRON improves over the original. Don't get me wrong, TRON was a mediocre sci-fi flick, but it was in no means good. I suppose it revolutionized visual effects for the time, although I hope they can think of a better story for this one. Nevertheless, I'll see it, just because I'm a nerd, and I love this kind of techy/video game stuff.
First of all, let me just say ….BAD A$$. Secondly, let me just say……HOT A$$ (on Olivia that is)
Some directors have an uncanny ability to frame a shot with a camera that lasts a mere second, yet says so much more about the characters in the shot then most hour long movies. This director is one of those. If you dont believe me, just check out his awesome commericals. They were so sleek, Disney is willing to bet a $100 MM plus film on a first time director.
Looks cool. I want to see it in 3D. Just have to say I now sympathize more with the people who only got to see this once at the big viral event. Insulting.
