The Title of TRANSFORMERS 3 Is “TRANSFORMERS: THE DARK OF THE MOON”

by     Posted 3 years, 295 days ago

Transformers 3 now has its official title and that title is: Transformers: The Dark of the Moon. TFW2005 first discovered the title through the listing of some upcoming movie tie-in novels, “Transformers: The Dark of the Moon – Secret of the Autobots“, “Transformers: The Dark of the Moon – Autobots Betrayed!“, and “Transformers: The Dark of the Moon: Invasion of the Decepticons” (all three novels are set to be released on May 17, 2011). We have now confirmed the title with sources close to the production. Nothing is known about the plot of the third film and the title doesn’t really provide any hints. Personally, I think the title “The Dark of the Moon” would work just as well for a sexy R&B album.

Transformers: The Dark of the Moon is in 3D, directed by Michael Bay, and stars Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, John Turturro, Alan Tudyk, Ken Jeong, Patrick Dempsey, and John Malkovich.  Hit the jump for a brief recap on what we know so far about the film, which opens July 1, 2011.

As we previously reported, here’s what we know about Transformers: The Dark of the Moon:

  • Characters that die stay dead
  • Bay says “This one really builds to a final crescendo. It’s not three multiple endings.” He goes on to say, “As a trilogy, it really ends.  It could be rebooted again, but I think it has a really killer ending.”
  • The villain is Shockwave
  • The movie features a  space race between the U.S.S.R. and the USA
  • They aim to upgrade the franchise with a more coherent story and less goofball humor

I just hope they finally include the Transformers robots in disguise theme song in this film during the opening and end credits. The audiences will cheer!

The theme was in ROTF. That’s the song that the twins were playing through their speakers when they were an ice cream truck

This movie is going to be a travesty. Michael Bay does not know how to compose shots. His relentless shaky cam style of shooting action scenes combined with 3D is going to look like shit.

    • Don

LOL, good one. I love jokers like you.

Bay doesn’t know how to compose shots!!!LOL!!

If that’s true then I don’t even know what to say about the other action directors out there.

      You’re a funny, funny guy.

I guess it’s beneath you to talk to me like a regular person huh? You’ve got to go with this “hey funny guy” shit because you have no actual rebuttal. Michael Bay has the mind of a 12 year old (much like yourself). Sure he can do action, providing that there are places in the movie that require pointless explosions. He’s a big dumb oaf with a lot of cameras and a lot of money. Take a look at the bank sequence in Heat. THAT’S how you shoot action. Bay’s got awesome giant robots beating the shit out of each other. Why isn’t that enough? No, he’s got to throw in shakycam and explosions to make it TOTALLYEXTREME!!By all means, go spend your money on Bay’s movies, because I sure won’t.

You are comparing a bank heist movie to a transformers movie?

Pulling out the immature insults, always a cool move.
Did your girlfriend or wife help you with your post?

Shaky cam, no idea what you are talking about.
Were you watching Bourne or Transformers?

I had no problems following the action AT ALL, there was a bit too much of it if that is possible but it was well done.

Michael Bay knows how to film big action sequences FOR SURE. He is just weak at picking a good script / story, always been his downfall. Hopefully Spielberg will do a better job at keeping him in line this time as Producer.

Looking forward to TF3 in the theater, great summer blockbusters.

DanSerper your a fuckin douchbag if you think you can do better then him do it but just know one thing the reason he is a director is so hollywood can get money. He is a great director no the best but good. I would like to see you do better then him

Gonna have to agree with DanSerper on this one. Michael Bay a good action director? *pukes in mouth a bit* Hell, is Michael Bay a good director of anything?…okay, I’ll give him The Rock, that was a decent movie. As far as action directors go, you might want to try James Cameron on for size. He doesn’t write the best scripts of all time, but the guy sure can direct an action movie. Case in point: The Terminator and T2: Judgment Day…watch ‘em some day, you might be impressed Don and Damon.

      • FotSK

Bays older movies have some decent action. As of late it’s just awful. It’s nearly impossible to tell what’s going on in most of the action sequences in his Transformers movies. Shaky cam and sub-par robot designs make it so often we can’t even tell who’s the good guy and who’s not.

RedJohn has the right idea – the action in T2, Aliens, True Lies, etc. is some of finest shot action out there. Cameron has brilliant pacing in his action scenes, particularly in Aliens where the urgency reaches insane levels. You can always tell what’s going on, and where the characters are. He just knows how to deliver great scenes that people want to see. I mean, he made an hour of a sinking ship one of the most exciting set-pieces ever.

However, I disagree regarding his scripts. Avatar had some clunky dialogue but it was structured almost perfectly. His earlier films (Terminator, Aliens, T2, The Abyss) are all excellent screenplays. They once again have brilliant structure, and he manages to easily succeed at writing tough, well-rounded, strong female action characters, which is extremely rare. I mean, Weaver got an Oscar nod for her work on Aliens and they almost never nominate roles from horror/sci-fi/action movies. It’s a testament to a great performance and great writing/character development. Let’s also not forget about all of the iconic lines in his movies as well…there’s just so many. How anyone could call him a poor writer really baffles me. I can think of very few sci-fi/action scripts that are as good as the ones he wrote. He’s directed many classic movies and the screenplays are a big part of them.

Yeah, the title is kind of clunky, but I’ll give them a chance this time. Didn’t watch the second one, kind of enjoyed the first one. It was sort of Amblin meets Bay with mixed results, some killer effects, and a completely lame story progression.

What I read about the second one made it seem like Bay threw out all the Amblin. lol. In other words all the good stuff in the first one was jettisoned.

I really don’t think Bay gets “story” though. He almost pulled it off with “The Island” but he didn’t understand what was important for the story at the end. For me, the wrong stuff was resolved on screen. He needs a solid, solid script. :)

Here is what Michael Bay has stated

1 – There be no Transformers in the film just 2 and half hours of Shia and who he is going to end up with.
2 – More of John Turroutro Wearing a Thong or a stupid outfit under his clothes.
3 – More of the parents getting high or discussing their sex life.
    4 – Maybe…….Maybe……two minutes of a Transformer……Maybe
5 – More Racial moments like a Gold Toothed Transformer or that moment in the first film where the black man is a theif…..you know the scene I am talking about.

remember nobody watch the film if robots talks oscar shit, okay…robots are meant for action thats what we have seen in last 2 films…

Amen – Transformers is about robots, explosions, and big set pieces – a summer popcorn flick. Anyone going into it looking for Academy Award material needs to wake up.
First one was good enough, second one was overdone and cheesed out a tad, but it sounds like the guy at least admits he went overboard…and again, it was mindless robot fighting fun. For the third movie (spoiler alert) – more explosions, robots fighting, and big set pieces…but hopefully a better script this time.
And regarding the Dark Knight – movie was great I will admit, but Heath Ledger offing himself also gave it more publicity. The movie was good, but it wasn’t THAT good.

You know, you can all bash this movie as much as you want to, or kiss it’s ass until it turns purple; the fact of the matter is that this movie is still going to crush the competition, as far as the box office is concerned–partly in thanks to idiots such as myself. I think MB is a talentless hack, but that doesn’t change the fact that regardless of how much I dislike the other two movies (Robot balls? Seriously?), I’m still going to watch this one for the same reason(s) that I’m sure many people who don’t like these movies will get suckered into a seat at their local theater: friends, relatives and caving into general curiosity.

Also, as far as this Oscar talk goes, there are more categories than best director, actor, picture, etc… I’m not sure of the specifics of the category titles, but there’s no reason a movie like this can’t have at least the potential for cinematography, make-up, animation (unless that’s reserved for feature animation film, I’m not sure), or something else along those lines. I’m sure MB really doesn’t care, and whoever the movie production companies are probably care less with this type of movie–as long as it has grossed enough money to build a mansion with a private golf course, helicopter pad, Olympic sized swimming pool and life size replications of the great pyramids made entirely out of hundred dollar bills… three times (which it will).

Anyway, having rambled on like that (on a board I’ll probably never revisit), I concur with most, the name sucks. “A” pretty much nailed it on the head. It sounds cliche, ripped off and cheesy (almost as bad as a title revolving around the concept of vendetta! Good thing there isn’t a Transformers movie with ‘revenge’ in the title. George Lucas better watch his ass!). On an ending note, I literally “laughed out loud” when I read “… a space race between the USSR and the USA.” Correct me if I’m wrong with my history, but does 1991 ring a bell with anyone else out there? Maybe they meant, ‘the’ space race? Maybe they have a new time travel transformer voiced by Michale J Fox! :D … This movie’s gonna suck… But I’m still going to watch it.

I liked when they brought up the old adage; Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I saw Transformers-1, and would never see Transformers 2 or 3, or any other Michael Bay movie ever again. It was the worst movie experience of my life, and I’m just an average guy. The cartoon from the 80′s had more interesting characters with more depth and better, more intelligent plot and motives of the characters. I would rather watch someone rolling around in poop and throw up. LOL http://enter10n.com/
