Paramount Pictures has released the first trailer for Transformers: The Last Knight, the fifth film in the Transformers franchise. Once again directed by Michael Bay, the film expands the mythology of the Transformers universe by introducing a medieval-centric backstory, with Mark Wahlberg reprising his lead role from Transformers: Age of Extinction.
Narrated by Anthony Hopkins, the trailer opens in what appears to be medieval England with blood dripping off a sword and then we see a Transformer flying by someone riding on horseback. As we make our way to present day and get shots of some new and familiar characters, what struck me was how slow everything was including the music. Where were the quick shots and explosions I come to expect from a Michael Bay movie? Of course around the minute twenty mark Bay drops the hammer and from then on it’s what I want to see in a Transformers movie: robots punching each other in the face. While I know there are a lot of Transformers fans that actually care about the story, I think the large majority of us go to see these films to see the crazy action that only Michael Bay can do. A few months ago I spent the day on The Last Knight set and watched Bay film a big action sequence. Trust me, this film is more the second half of the trailer than the first. Let me know what you think in the comments.
