While all the movie studios are struggling to deal with falling DVD sales, one studio is smiling. Paramount Home Video sold 7.5 million DVD/Blu-ray copies of “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” in its first week of release including 1.2 million Blu-ray’s, making it the year’s highest selling HD title. To put that in perspective, “Twilight” was the year’s biggest selling title and has sold 8 million copies since March 21st. So if you were wondering why Michael Bay jumped right into making “Transformers 3″, it’s because the movies make a lot of money. Sorry to dispel the notion that Bay does it because he deeply believes in the “Transformers” mythology and the soul-searching questions it raises.
Of course, the big question is whether or not Bay will listen to outside voices on TF3, because from what I heard, he was left completely alone when making the sequel. While I didn’t hate the movie like some people, I was definitely let down. But I can’t think of another filmmaker I’d want to see making “Giant Fucking Robots That Punch Each Other 3″*. So Michael, if you’re reading this, your visuals are awesome but please get a good script and try to listen when people give you helpful advice.
*Not the official title.

I agree with you Steve on that part that I was also let down in terms of story I think it’s gonna happen same with Transformers 3 too.It won’t matter if some people hate this movie this will be still money making machine for Paramount just like Harry Potter is for Warner Bros.I fell sad that Paramount is ready to put money on such pathetic stories rather save money and did not promote movie like Shutter Island and give such lame reasons.Transformers 3 will be also big on dvd too remember that too.

I kinda feel the same way also. They could have delved more into the mythology but I still had tons of fun and even picked up the blu-ray and watched it a few times already. The movie’s story really felt rushed and I kinda feel as if it were due to the writer’s strike. Like, the story was actually there and had so much history but it was only tapped into. Hopefully they bring more character development into this and give us those awe moments like when Transformers arrive to earth in the first one. I would loooove to see Primus and Unicron in this and duke it out in space. One can only hope.

There was a hidden video on the Blu-Ray with Michael Bay talking about what to expect in TF3. Hasbro send him more stuff with Transformers lore, He talks about the film going sideways and not being as big and not that much action, Bumblebee will be a lot more involved, It will be more emotional and have a darker tone. Plus it showed pictures of Unicron, So its possible he will be in the movie.

I too have bought both transformers on release day. I loved the second one because i took it as what it was meant to be. A fuckin giant robot action movie, not a soap opera. Grow some balls, transformers are made to fight not talk about their feelings.
