Like films being re-released in theaters after a slew of Oscar nominations or awards, Amazon is smartly allowing everyone to view its critically touted series Transparent for one-day only: Saturday, January 24th.

The show, which has previously only been available only via Amazon's Prime subscription service, stars Jeffrey Tambor as Mort, a transgender man.  Created and directed by Jill Soloway (Six Feet Under), the ten-episode first season follows Mort and his family after his discovery changes their lives.

Transparent originally premiered as part of Amazon's pilot season last year, and was ordered to series in March of 2014.  Since its premiere in September, it has continued to generate buzz, winning the Golden Globe for Best Television Series - Musical or Comedy, as well as a Best Actor win for Tambor.

Transparent is also Amazon's first original series that has really put it on par with some of Netflix's most ambitious fare.  To keep that popularity growing (it has already been renewed for a second season), Amazon's decision to make it available to all for 24 hours -- especially on such an inherently binge-watchy day as a winter Saturday -- is a very savvy move.
